Subject: URGENT: Breaking News Warning      A MUST READ THEN WATCH THE VIDEO

In a message dated 12/28/2012 6:40:22 PM US Mountain Standard Time, Lew writes:

You had better take five minutes to watch this video…AAA says this new fuel, E-15, that is showing up at some gas stations will ruin your car’s engine.
Please watch this video as soon as possible.  It could save you thousands of dollars if you take heed.  I warned some time ago that the EPA was approving E-15 gas.  Now it is appearing in service stations.  If your car is older than 2012, at least a dozen manufacturers have now warned that it will void your warranty if you use it.  So even if your car has a warranty, you get to pay for the devastation out of your own pocket, just like the rest of us.

Manufacturers have verified my original contention a year ago that the corrosiveness of the product on vehicle fuel systems will be catastrophic.

Both forms of synthetic alcohol, ie ethanol and methanol, are used in race engines and have been for many years. Ethanol has an octane rating of 116, Methanol 113, and standard pump gas has a rating of 85. So it comes down to bang potential. Octane is a scale that compares bang potential.

The alcohol based fuels allow for more aggressive ignition timing settings so that where economy is unimportant the bang per buck factor is substantially increased. I agree that you probably won’t save anything because these synthetic fuels are thinner than swamp gas; thinner as in paint thinner if you will. So it is true that more fuel is required to move X weight Y distance but we have always known this.

The claim that synthetic fuel causes engine wear is erroneous: the single biggest difference to engine wear especially upper cylinder wear was brought about by the exclusion of lead in fuel. Removing lead was a good thing and the slight increase in valve seat degradation is overcome by using harder compounds in said valve seat, something car manufactures have been doing for a decade or two now. Car manufacturers concerns are about their use of cheap fuel hoses only and the chance that we would sue if our cars caught fire.

There is only one difficulty with synthetic fuels: once a small timing adjustment has been made to alleviate pinkering of course. This problem has to do with the rubber hoses in the fuel line. It is true that synthetic fuels do attack rubber more drastically than swamp gas does; this is overcome by simply replacing rubber components with more resistant types of hose. Of course nobody wants their car to burst into flames and if one can’t afford to have their rubber hoses checked and or changed then this should be a factor in any decision to switch fuel.

We run a 10% ethanol blend here in New Zealand and my experience is offered for consideration. My car is 25 years old and has given me no problems in the decade that i have been using the synthetic blends. My motorcycle is 40 years old and has CV carburettors (with rubber diaphragms which i changed to the nitrile type) again no problems.

The claim about using food crops for fuel has some merit but is really only problematic because we don’t use sustainable practices regarding cropping methodology. It’s not the corns, or the fuel industries, fault that we are little better than locusts at managing the gift we have been given. Further more we could equally effectively be using all the rubbish that we usually dump into land fills to source this fuel. Methane gas, a precursor of methanol, is a known by product of rotting garbage and in fact is quite a problem for sealed landfill sites.

In conclusion i certainly advise, and always will, that nobody take my advice on this but it is well worth talking to your mechanic about as any reduction in our reliance of fossil fuels is a good thing. I suggest that the source of this scare mongering is funded by the oil cartel who have probably also added me to their hit list now.

        alcohol burns good,only 1 problem..
waterfapour in your engine, look under your cap,you will see the mayonaise…
its smooring your engine, the oil fapour will stick in trothell.due to the waterfapour.
those oilcompanies are like donkeys.

You’re difficult to understand but never mind: i have something i want you to know about this mayonnaise you refer to. Sure in the morning before an engine is run there will be some condensate accumulation and this will show up as a white to grey goo. It’s all gone by the time you finish your commute and won’t be back until the engine is thoroughly cooled down; the goo or mayonnaise is water and oil mixed and this happens regardless of what type of fuel is used.

Here is a little experiment anyone can do at home to see the effects of water vapour in an engine. Hold a steaming kettle in front of the air intake of a running engine and note the revolutions pick up a small amount. Water is hydrogen and oxygen and in the correct amount is a catalyst not a retardant. Water will only smother an engine if there is insufficient heat energy to cause total vapourisation, so don’t go sticking the garden hose up the air cleaner.

Speaking of fossil fuels i do want to say that i never bought in to the many myths surrounding this much maligned industry. Peak oil flow is not what we are lead to believe; it is only a measure whereby we are using fossil fuels faster than mommy is making it. Further more the use of fossil fuels is not heating the planet. AGW (man made global warming) is a total myth at anything like significant levels; we do need to be managing our resources at sustainable levels, we also need to not be breathing excessive concentrations of pollution.

Currently our systems are very out of balance but the answer is not in banning certain elements; the answer lies in removing greed and managing the gifts we are given. This earth is actually heaven but we were given the choice to make it hell; so we did. Bah Humbug!
