Homeless People Now Sleeping In Cambridge Cemetery

London’s homeless rate has increased by more than two-fifths over the past year.

The number of rough sleepers in and around London England has increased by more than two-fifths over the past year as many Britons are struggling to make ends meet within the country’s stagnant economy, but banking and military escapades have been the only boom industries and the only area of employment for British males, while the jobs gap is filled with peoples from the old Soviet bloc and others.

The number of people classed as homeless and in need of emergency accommodation has soared 43 percent in the British capital in the last 12 months, Reuters reported.

According to statistics compiled by outreach groups and local authorities, nearly 6,000 English people slept rough in London at some point during 2011-2012, up from about 3,900 the year before and 3,000 in 2006-2007, figures since Christmas 2012 are not available yet but many of these people slip between the rungs for financial help and are left destitute and can only beg, the sight of people eating out of litter bins is becoming common in some areas.

In some areas such as Cambridge the abandoned cemetery is now used by the homeless and those seeking consolation and escape with alcohol and drugs, sleeping in the tombs with the already dead.

Some charities believe that the introduction of additional cuts to housing benefits by the Tory-led government will aggravate the situation, when Britain’s local authorities and charities have already faced reductions in their budgets.
