Student Opens Fire At California High School

At least one person was shot when a gunman opened fire at a high school in California on Thursday morning, authorities there say.

The shooting occurred in the science building at Taft Union High School in Taft, Calif., at approximately 9 a.m. local time, a Kern County Sheriff’s official told Yahoo News.

The sheriff’s official said the suspected shooter—a student at the school—was taken into custody, and a shotgun was recovered at the scene.

One victim, a fellow student, was airlifted to Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, Calif., with a shotgun wound to the upper right chest, the official said. The extent of the student’s injuries were not known.

One student said this shooting took place while he was in another building participating in an “active shooter drill” when the shooting occurred.Boy does that sound familiar,this isn’t the first time that something has happened on a day a drill was conducted.Look at this to see my point ,also,the timing of this couldn’t be better for Obama as he is getting his Executive order pen ready.

From the latimes ~California politicians were quick to speak out about Thursday morning’s shooting at Taft Union High School in Kern County that sent two students to the hospital, one with a gunshot wound.

Sheriff’s officials said one student was shot in a science building and airlifted to a hospital in Bakersfield, about 40 miles northeast of the small town of Taft. Another student was taken to a hospital with a possible injury, said Kern County sheriff’s spokesman Ray Pruitt, although officials believe the student was not actually hit by gunfire.

The condition of the injured student was not immediately known.

The suspected gunman, also a student, was taken into custody, sheriff’s officials said. Pruitt said a shotgun had been recovered from the scene.MORE HERE
