These flash mobs are becoming a big problem across the country .Now it’s happening in NCY ,violent mobs acting like wild animals, with as many as 20 to 40 of them come out of nowhere and ransack convenience stores and news stands causing damage and injuring people.One man was hit in the head with a bottle and another mans arm was broken.
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Violent, thieving mobs have been making headlines across the country for the past few years, and now they have hit New York City.
And Maurice Dubois reported in this CBS 2 investigation, the teen mobs have left neighborhoods worried as businesses take matters into their own hands.
Judson Bennett, 78, recently ran into a violent group of teens – often described with the once-benign term “flash mob” – as he made his daily trip to buy a newspaper at his favorite news team.
“I’m approaching the newsstand, and then suddenly there is a tremendous force behind me,” Bennett said.
Bennett ended up with a broken arm.
“I was taken completely by surprise,” he said.

It wouldn’t happen if the store employees had access to firearms. Then they could protect themselves and their property. Shooting criminals in the commission of a crime tends to discourage that type of behavior.
Neil you are so right. These lib gun control people back east have such a stupid arguement!!You will not see this in, say, Phoenix, Arizona. Why? Lawful citizens are legally allowed to carry, open or concealed. Most store owners I know, do! It is not even actually having to use your gun on someone. Just the threat of a gun is enough. If these stores did not have their 2nd Amendment right restricted and were allowed to carry a firearm, eventually this would just not happen anymore. When it becomes common knowledge that falsh mobbing is hazardous to your health and you may get shot, it stops. Gun control = more BRAZEN criminal activity. Keep the playing field even and people seem to get a little more polite and respectful to eachother. Period.
Are you suggesting that it would be okay to shoot and kill these kids for taking a handful of candy bars or a couple bottles soda? What kind of society do you want to live in where it is justified to go to that extreme to protect a few bucks worth of chocolate? I agree these kids are doing wrong and it needs to stop, but gunfire is not the answer to this. You look in these clips and look at these kids, these are other people babies , sons, brothers, and they are societys future too, we need to work on this not just kill it and throw it away.

They broke bones & if they do this to many stores, they may be attacking, maiming & injuring countless people + stealing $1000′s in people’s hard earned property, possibly sending them broke. I am not a native New Yorker but would expect that the stand operators would be permitted to have pepper spray for self defense. If not that, how about some wasp spray to be used against these animals. Maybe they would be easier for the police to apprehend if they are coughing and tearing so badly that they could not speedily run away and disperse. They should then be charged with assault and felony charges for damages with no bail or leniency.
They should at least be able to use gas on these people. You could gas as many as ten or twelve at once, and they would be left on the ground until law enforcement came to take them away. The gas amounts to a type of pepper spray.
