Human Rights Watch Condemns Israel for War Crimes
An investigation by Human Rights Watch (HRW) has condemned Israel for violating international laws of war during its 2012 assault on the Gaza Strip.
The eight day campaign of terror, which began on November 14, 2012, targeted civilians and civilian objects including homes and farms. 160 Palestinians were killed and 1,200 were injured.
HRW also reminded the Israeli regime that individuals who target civilians or civilian objects are guilty of war crimes.
On January 14, 2013 HWR sent details of the investigation to Israeli military, requesting more information. Israel failed to provide any information to justify the attacks.
“Israeli forces too often conducted airstrikes that killed Palestinian civilians and destroyed homes in Gaza without apparent legal justification,” said Sarah Leah Whitson, the Middle East director at the HRW.
1.7 million people in Gaza are denied their basic human rights, such as freedom of movement and adequate healthcare and education.
