Even though she passed through a security checkpoint at Missouri’s Lambert-St. Louis International Airport, TSA agents picked a three-year-old girl in a wheelchair for additional screening. The agency is now apologizing for the incident.
Lucy Forck, who was on her way to Disney World, suffers from Spina bifida, a developmental disorder that prevents vertebrae and the spinal cord from fully forming. Lucy’s spinal cord is partially exposed as a result.
“They specifically told me that they were singling her out for this special treatment because she’s in a wheelchair,” Nathan Forck, Lucy’s father, told Fox News about the February 8 incident. “They are specifically singling out disabled people for this special scrutiny. It’s rather offensive to me as a father of a disabled child.”
Lucy’s mother took out a video camera to catch the 45-minute incident on film after TSA agents insisted on patting the child down.
“It is against the law for you to record,” a TSA agent is heard telling her at one point during the video. However, Nathan, who is a lawyer, knew this was untrue – so his wife continued to film the ordeal.
“You can’t do touch my daughter unless I record it,” she says in response.
During the incident an agent confiscated Lucy’s stuffed animal Lamby, bringing the child to tears.
“I don’t want to go Disney World,” she can be heard saying.
After the video spread over the Internet, the TSA released a statement saying it “regrets inaccurate guidance was provided to this family during screening and offers its apology,” adding that it is indeed legal to film TSA agents while they work and noting that selecting a child as young as Lucy for a pat down “not proper procedure.”
The Forcks say they accept the agency’s apology and are not planning to go to court over the ordeal. “Our goal was to draw people’s attention to it – to effect change,” Nathan told the Riverfront Times.

Sad to say, but we brought this on ourselves by freaking out after 9/11. Until there’s a countrywide movement to disband the TSA, this is just going to continue, and the TSA will continue to issue lame apologies in response.
If they want to effect change then they need to go to court because in court is the ONLY way change will come about in this. He, as an attorney should know better.
This is how Nazi’s show their power. Their next move may be selectively pul disabled people out of line for extermination.
NOT going to court ENSURES these effin dictator wanna-be’s will continue doing exactly the same thing any time the mood strikes them!!!!
WHAT A MISTAKE!!
Government successfully intimidates another cowardly citizen
I too am disabled and was detained back in 2011 at American Airlines, they detained me because i put an order of protection on my violent ex wife 6 years earlier, they didn´t believe me when i told them i was disabled, and they had me in their office for several hours.. i lost my flight, they didn´t help me get another one, my disability is i am blind, lung disease and a spinal injury where i cannot sit or stand for long periods of time…. i had to get my blood pressure up and argue with the TSA police in order to get me out of there, i was nearly put in their cell but i talked to them so that they understand that it is a stupid law to detain someone for something that happened 6 years earlier.. so they said it is a permanent thing for that i have to get an attorney to resolve, since then i fear traveling with American Airlines to my birth country to visit my family.. they made me feel insecure about traveling to Florida, and it´s all because of their stupid Nazi laws.
Is this that Janet Napolitan’s department?? If so – she ows this family a PERSONAL apology and she can buy that little girl another stuffed animal with her own money and give it to her. It is not againsst the law to film the incident either. There is so much wrong in the country now- Keep that video camera handy -
Those TSA jerks need to put in jail no bond on bail.
