DHS Denies Massive Ammunition Purchase
Fails to answer key question about why hollow point rounds are being used for training purposes

Comment: The DHS has still failed to answer the key question that debunks claims the bullets are being purchased in bulk to save money and are for training purposes only. Most of the bullets are hollow point rounds, which are unsuitable for training purposes because they cost more money than standard firing range bullets. As former Marine Richard Mason told reporters with WHPTV News in Pennsylvania earlier this month, “We never trained with hollow points, we didn’t even see hollow points my entire four and a half years in the Marine Corps.”
The Department of Homeland Security responded Friday to questions from Rep. Tim Huelskamp, R-Kan., about why the agency was allegedly planning to buy some 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition over the next five years.
DHS told Whispers it regularly fills all of its goods and services requirements at one time because it’s cheaper for the agency, and that the 1.6 billion number was misleading because the language of DHS’s purchase said it would need “up to” a certain amount.
One solicitation by the agency—for training centers and law enforcement personnel—was for “up to” 750 million rounds of training ammunition over the next five years, DHS spokesman Peter Boogaard told Whispers.
Another five-year contract allows for the purchase of “up to” 450 million rounds of ammunition, he said, and was also for law enforcement. Boogaard noted that the contract would be used by all DHS agencies except the Coast Guard.

Hollow points expand when they hit the target (human body or animal). Did not think they are legal during WAR (I’m sure)! But who is to say the government wouldn’t use them on US! I would think the cost for a hollow point/head is higher per bullet (extra step to put that cavity in the slug). They are used to KILL, not stop or maim. Very concerning to say the least!

It is not against the law for federal, state or local law enforcement to use hollow point ammo, that is what they use. In fact they use a +p load, more powerful. It is against international treaty and law for military to use hollow point, or exploding rounds like the yankees used against the Southern troops during the War for Southern Independence.

A full congressional investigation needs to be implimented NOW. There is something much more ominous than buying up billions of bullets for “training purposes” – hollow points, which are used to kill, not for target practice. The American people NEED TO KNOW who ordered this, and why. At the same time, why does DHS need tanks? Give them the 250 they are sending to the damned EGYPTIANS!
It is now almost IMPOSSIBLE to find certain calibers of bullets in the stores – and that, I BELIEVE is the answer to this ‘mystery’. If you cant BAN THE GUNS, buy up all the ammunition! These bastards in Washington are evil geniuses, aren’t they!
This administration needs to be held accountable at ALL TIMES for their actions. WHERE ARE OUR REPRESENTATIVES demanding answers? Only a handful seem interested at all.
Need any further proof as to what the govt. is up 2? I don’t either. If you dodge a question then that tells me you have something to hide. We all know this is the most “transparent” administration in history now don’t we? Afterall we still do not know who Obama is or where he came from, I mean 100% sure.
I believe that the government is buying up so much ammo to keep it out of our hands. They have backed off controlling the weapons, but they now are controlling the ammo that limits what the citizens can buy. This is actually better for them, because it controls us without all the nasty rebellion that was surely to come.
Ammo-the no hesitation targets-fenced in detention area in the Sonoran desert/by Blackwater & Sacaton Arizona, looks like homeland security’s getting ready to be that army Obama said he was going to create 4+yr’s ago. So since this agency run’s on the taxpayer dime the damn taxpayer’s demand a straight answer,not dog & pony show. Where’s the damn oversight committee thats suppose to keep people like Napolitano in line? She must think she’s above the law like Holder-Obammy-Reid-Feinstein-Pelosi,time to tighten controll on these people. They are the biggest danger to — We the People — they’re on the same page with the terrorist ,but at the top of the page!
I find it interesting that our government is buying rounds, presumably for use on its own citizenry, that are illegal for use in the military under the Geneva Convention Accord.
It shows complete lack of respect and even more…complete fear.
Now, I wonder what they have to feel guilty about that would instill such fear in their craven hearts?
