When SunTrust Bank bank foreclosed on the Laney Supermarket grocery store, managers were left with thousands of pounds of food and nowhere to put it. So, they decided to move non-perishable items to the parking lot for those who might need it. As news of the give-away spread throughout the neighborhood, a crowd numbering in the hundreds quickly swooped in.
But the goods never made it into the hands of people who desperately needed, as local police barricaded the stockpile of food. They called in a disposal company and tossed every bit of it into the trash, angering many of those who had hoped they could take some of the food home.
“People have children out here that are hungry, thirsty, could be anything. Why throw it away when you could be issuing it out?” asked Robertstine Lambert.
The Marshal of Richmond County, Steve Smith, says the food wasn’t theirs to give away, so they had to trash it.
“We don’t have authority to take possession of the property; we just have to make sure that it’s handled, disposed of by law,” Smith, said

“These are brand new items; we saw the potential for a riot was extremely high,” said Sheriff Richard Roundtree.
Jennifer Santiago was forced to leave empty handed and she says trashing the merchandise is truly a waste.
“For them to do this is a low blow. A lot of people are sad, a lot of people aren’t going to have food to put on their table; this is ridiculous,” she said.

Nearly 100 million Americans are living on the edge of poverty and 47 million Americans have nowhere to turn but Uncle Sam to help put food on their tables through nutritional food assistance programs.
When a grocery store is giving away food that has no official owner what do benevolent government officials tasked to serve and protect do?
They look starving Americans in the face and throw the food in the trash.

I really kind of hope you find yourself in a dire situation when you lose everything and have to rely on someone else’s compassion when they could just as easily give you the shaft. At the exact moment when they either give you help or slam the door in your face, I would love to see your expression as you think back to what you said here today. First off – these people never ‘had’ anything to begin with. They’re pure democrat-fed voter beef with 100% dependancy. I’ve had the door slammed in my face, my water is poisoned and I have been left for dead and guess what – I never, not once, got mad at anybody for not helping me. Me and my lot are not anyone’s responsibility but my own. These knuckle-dragging boat anchors have made their entire LIVES forcing their dependency on others by threat of violence (via the IRS). If it meant killing off the entire welfare class I would gladly take a bullet – but last – I wanna see them all die first.
That idiot is probably on welfare, yet talking about the people looking for a hand-out. Either that, or he is working on the black market, therefore stealing taxes from the people and probably receiving welfare while working.

Talking about animals, I would have been there gathering the food to feed my chicken and fish that would then feed you – now at a lower price – whether you deserved it or not.

They didn’t have to throw it out. They could have given it to the homeless organizations, or local food pantries. This is just wrong!
who’s orders?
The store was giving it away. They put it in the parking lot for the people. The parking lot is private property. They had no right to intervene in this, as it was for the taking not wasting.
The way the government sees it is that if you need food that badly, get on food stamps.
Interesting that so many Americans are relying on Uncle Sam for food.
So where did that name come from? Is it really short for Uncle Samuel, the kindly old Jew who has been plotting against the US since the first time his shoe hit the quayside?
Sam loves to kill people without having to spend any money. This is why he starved the Christian farmers in the Soviet Union to death, in their millions. Now he’s beginning to try it out on you.

I’ve listened to the argument and I would’ve given the food to the people, period.
You have to remember…we are in a ‘LAWSUIT’ society today.
If they were to ‘give’ this away, it could end in a Lawsuit against ‘someone.’
It could have been handled much differently or ‘donated’.. but why would they do that?
