Turin Shroud 'Is Not A Medieval Forgery'

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Experiments conducted by scientists at the University of Padua in northern Italy have dated the shroud to ancient times, a few centuries before and after the life of Christ.

Many Catholics believe that the 14ft-long linen cloth, which bears the imprint of the face and body of a bearded man, was used to bury Christ’s body when he was lifted down from the cross after being crucified 2,000 years ago.

The analysis is published in a new book, “Il Mistero della Sindone” or The Mystery of the Shroud, by Giulio Fanti, a professor of mechanical and thermal measurement at Padua University, and Saverio Gaeta, a journalist.

Fascinating.  I have to admit, I am a skeptic when it comes to religion.  Especially Christianity since its what I was raised around.  The fact that under scientific scrutiny this holds up at least to the point to where its not a forgery anddatesaround the supposed death time of Jesus Christ, well that says alot.  Especially to people of faith.  -Mort

The date is rather academic when you consider they also did a pollen count trapped in the fabric weave, where it contained no pollen from the middle east let alone from Palestine. There are more ways of finding out the history of an object than just dating it.

We must have read different “studies” then, because those I read proved that the pollen WAS from the middle east area. the first studies were taken not from the heart of the shroud but from the edges so that it wouldnt damage it. When rolled up and transported, the outer edges became contaminated with particulates of various areas where it was kept

Studies have proved without a doubt that the Shroud contains fossilized pollen particles from Europe, Anatolia and Palestine. Some of the pollen was from plants that became extinct before the Middle Ages and were peculiar to Palestine only.

Pix, before you open your iconoclastic trap, read up on the subject you’re disparaging.

If you would do your homework you would find that the initial pollen was found on the very top layer of the shroud. Since it has been in other places . Taking deeper layer samples from the shroud revealed pollen from the middle east.

I saw the documentary of taking the “shroud”, and creating a 3d image from it on the History Chanel. I am not a christian, however, I do some work in 3d animation. I saw how they took the image and applied it to a 3d model, then extrapolated the dimensions from it. The results were startling. Everything that I have seen on the “Shroud”, are in sync with what I have read about the crucifiction of Yesuah in Jerusalem. Hard to fake that.

I don’t know if you have the intellectual capacity or education to do this, but if it is as you say, then you should get the two volume set ‘Evidence That Demands a Verdict’ by Josh McDowell and refute each and every point asserted and argument defended in his work so that you can lead others out of the darkness of ignorance–if they are in fact believing in falsehood–and onto your enigmatically enlightened path to a higher knowledge.

Mr. McDowell made a good penny from his landmark work and you should profit quite nicely when you prove to the world that all the evidence for Jesus being the scripturally prophesied Messiah, that is to say ‘Anointed One’ (that’s what the Hebrew word we transliterate into English means–in the Koine dialect of the Ancient Greek more often referred to as the “common” Greek, or “biblical” Greek, or “New Testament” Greek because the N.T. was originally scribed in that language for practical purposes (That’s not to say early documents in the Palestinian Aramaic, the language Jesus spoke, or Latin may not one day be discovered–as far as I know there were no prohibitions of any person recording or copying in whatsoever language they so chose.) the Hebrew word for Messiah was not transliterated, it was translated into the word (and I spell phonetically here): KRISTOS. Guess what word we get in the English transliterated from the Koine…, Christ!

So you see the Hebrew word spelled phonetically here “Meshiac” which means ‘Anointed One’ gives us Messiah in English, and in the biblical Greek was translated ‘Kristos,’ from where we get the word “Christ.”

The Jews recognized an anointed one as being a king.

Jesus is the ‘Anointed One,’ the King of Kings, the scripturally prophesied Messiah, the Christ, the Son of God, which is to say God Himself in the flesh, the theanthropos–fully God and fully man.

God so loved you that He sent His only begotten son so that you might have forgiveness of your sin and eternal life. I cannot fathom the depths of stupidity of any person who would reject such an offer. Jesus lived a sinless life–something that you and I are incapable of–in order that His atoning sacrifice would be acceptable unto God the Father. He suffered severely for you; even unto death–on a Cross–such an horrid way to die–that you could live.

It occurs to me that you blame God for an awful lot. It is not fair to blame God for the fallen world in which we live. Get over it and ask Jesus into your heart to be Lord of your life. The only way to make any sense of this life is to give the life you’ve been given back to God. He can work it all out–all that stuff that is evidently angering you. He is able. He is also worthy to be praised. Perhaps this Easter Sunday you can begin your life anew–in Christ Jesus. He awaits you with open arms and is ready to do so much for you–more than you can even imagine. He can give you a new heart and make of you a new Creature–a child of the living Lord, Creator of all that is.

You’re right just don’t let it get you angry, the Christians will find out soon enough, no need to let them get you angry. The universe will expose it to them in it’s time, those of us that broke free of it will have to be there to help them because alot of them are good people just misguided.
