CDC Firearm Control Study Finds Need For Stricter Gun Laws . . . Again

The Truth Behind The News

According to a new anti-2nd Amendment study entitled, “Firearm Legislation and Firearm-Related Fatalities in the United States”, an estimated 30,000 people die in “injuries caused by firearms” in the US and the least amount of gun-related deaths are found in states that have restrictive gun laws.

This 4 year study found that “a higher number of firearm laws in a state are associated with a lower rate of firearm fatalities in the state, overall and for suicides and homicides individually. As our study could not determine cause-and-effect relationships, further studies are necessary to define the nature of this association.”

States that were analyzed in thus study were Louisiana, Hawaii, Alabama, Utah and Massachusetts.

Dr. Eric W. Feegler, lead author of the study, utilized data provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to conclude that stricter gun laws equal fewer deaths.

Fleeger explained: “And states that have the lowest gun-ownership rates also have the lowest gun-mortality rates. States that try to have gun laws that are meant to be meaningful, they seem to be able to actually have an impact. That’s an important thing to learn from.”

In January, when Obama signed the 23 executive orders on gun control, he also issued 3 presidential memorandums. One of these, entitled “Engaging in Public Health Research on the Causes and Prevention of Gun Violence” empowers the Secretary of DHHS and the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) , as well as “other scientific agencies within” the DHHS to “conduct or sponsor research into the causes of gun violence and the ways to prevent it.”

The Secretary of DHHS will “begin by identifying the most pressing research questions with the greatest potential public health impact, and by assessing existing public health interventions being implemented across the Nation to prevent gun violence.”

According to the memorandum the CDC and DHHS will:

• Conduct research on the causes and prevention of gun violence, including links between video games, media images, and violence: The President is issuing a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control and scientific agencies to conduct research into the causes and prevention of gun violence. It is based on legal analysis that concludes such research is not prohibited by any appropriations language. The CDC will start immediately by assessing existing strategies for preventing gun violence and identifying the most pressing research questions, with the greatest potential public health impact. And the Administration is calling on Congress to provide $10 million for the CDC to conduct further research, including investigating the relationship between video games, media images, and violence.
• Better understand how and when firearms are used in violent death: To research gun violence prevention, we also need better data. When firearms are used in homicides or suicides, the National Violent Death Reporting System collects anonymous data, including the type of firearm used, whether the firearm was stored loaded or locked, and details on youth gun access. Congress should invest an additional $20 million to expand this system from the 18 states currently participating to all 50 states, helping Americans better understand how and when firearms are used in a violent death and informing future research and prevention strategies.

Congress will be expected to approve $10 million to pay the CDC and DHHS to conduct research that favors a federal gun grab.

In 1996 Congress took back the $2.6 million allocated for gun violence research because of an obvious anti-gun bias the government agency displayed in their findings.

Since 1995, the CDC found in every study conducted that stricter gun control was the only answer to curb gun-related violence. While partnering with the US Public Health Service (PHS), the CDC admonished that the only way “. . . to reduce the number of handguns in private ownership”, starting with a 25% reduction by the turn of the century.”

The funding was later returned to the CDC under condition that it be used to study traumatic brain injuries (TBI).

The politically-fueled issue of gun control is furthered by comments such as one made by Dr. Katherine Chrisoffel, head of the Handgun Epidemic Lowering Plan (HELP), a propaganda organization receiving funding from the CDC, who said that “guns are a virus that must be eradicated… They are causing an epidemic of death by gunshot, which should be treated like any epidemic . . . you get rid of the virus . . . get rid of the guns, get rid of the bullets, and you get rid of deaths.”

Chrisoffel conducted an anti-gun study in 2007 entitled “Firearm Injuries: Epidemic Then, Epidemic Now” wherein it was asserted that guns pose a threat to public health domestically and internationally.

With ongoing prevention measures, this crisis could be thwarted on the local and federal level as incremental restrictions were slowly introduced into the social meme. This could alter circumstances with both professional and public opinion to favor an encompassing redaction of the 2nd Amendment.

Gun-violence studies appear to be retrospective, seeing patterns in the past that justify conclusions point toward enacting stricter gun laws.

The CDC National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS) would be federally funded to promote a federal gun grab through propaganda findings that could be used in research to prove that guns should be banned.

Last month, Art Kellerman, gun control researcher funded by the CDC, was found doctoring data to reflect bias against gun owners. Kellerman asserted that his research showed that households of a gun owner were 43 more times likely to have that weapon involved in a gun-related death of another member of the household than used in self-defense.

In 2012, The National Law Enforcement Partnership To Prevent Gun Violence (NLEP) demanded that Congress reinstate the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban championed by Senator Dianne Feinstein.

Because of the Batman shooting the NLEP warned the House of Representatives that with high capacity magazines available to the public for purchase there would be more violent outbursts to be expected in the future.

In accord with the NLEP, the Reverend Jesse Jackson stated: “We cannot be . . . hiding behind the 2nd Amendment to justify weapons that the writers of the Constitution never imagined. You have to be persistent. It was tough, but we were right.”
