Chicago Make-Up Artist and Latino Entrepreneur Launches Fragrance Line

Hispanic entrepreneur Hernan Rivera is putting the finishing touches on the launch of “Greed,” a new fragrance line for men and women that will compete with some of the heavyweights in the business.

The 28-year-old Rivera, a successful make-up artist, previously came out with the “Sin” line of cosmetics.

“It’s a sin to be without it, it’s a unique perfume,” Rivera told Efe.

The entrepreneur, who was born and raised in Chicago, said his business was growing, entering new markets in the United States and Mexico, including Jalisco and Durango states, where his parents are from.

Rivera, who has a degree in business and textiles, said he was aware that he was taking on some of the big guns in the fragrance business, such as Antonio Banderas, Paloma Picasso and Carolina Herrera.

“But my perfume is unique. When people smell it, they cannot describe it,” Rivera said, referring to his work with an expert on mixing fragrances.

The reasonably priced perfume line is aimed at consumers who are looking for “quality products at more accessible prices,” Rivera said.

The fragrance line is currently being sold at beauty salons and boutiques, but new distribution channels are being added to open additional markets.

Rivera has teamed up with several beauty pageants, such as Miss Illinois Latina and the Señorita Jalisco pageant sponsored by the Federacion Jaliciense de los EE.UU., opening doors in several Mexican states for his product.
