“Day of Resistance” Rally to Bring Americans Together Against Obama Gun Grab

On February 23rd the “Day of Resistance” Rally will be held across the nation. Dustin Stockton, organizer of the rallies explained that he began this event because: “The first is one which I’ve been getting ruthlessly abused for and that is because the AR-15 caliber is .223. It’s also the day that we raised the flag in Iwo Jima and it’s also a Saturday, so people who work regular hours can also attend.”

Attendance is expected to be high as 50,000 citizens have signed up to attend the 97 rallies to be held in more than 30 states; including Alabama, Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Kansas Nevada, New York and Oregon.

The website states: “In response to these unconstitutional actions by the President, on .223, February 23, 2013 the American people will stand together in defiance to protect the right that protects ALL of our rights, the 2nd Amendment! They will organize locally so that they may band together neighbor to neighbor and reassert their community’s right to determine their own destiny!”

Stockholm asserts: “The main hook is Second Amendment defense and executive actions by Obama. At the same time, we feel like the GOP establishment argument on guns is that ‘this is all crazy talk, what you’re hearing doesn’t matter and they’re not going to actually come take your guns away.’”

In late January, the “Guns Across America” rallies headed up by Eric Reed became the precursor for this latest display against the federal government regarding gun control and 2nd Amendment infringements.

Reed organized the rallies to take place at noon time in respective time zones on January 19th.

Reed explained the purpose of the rallies as: “The people are pulling themselves away from their families and their personal obligations for one day because the Second Amendment is very important to them. If these people are willing to take that kind of time out of their personal lives to try to tell Washington, D.C., something, those guys work for us. It’s their job to listen. This is the most crucial time. This is when all the laws and executive orders are coming down the pike. This is the time that we have to act, not next week, not next month. It’s now. If our Second Amendment rights are as important as we say they are, we need to come out and show it to the rest of America and Washington, D.C.”

This week at a conference held a few miles from Sandy Hook Elementary, Vice President Joe Biden and Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy spoke to lawmakers and family members of the victims to gain public support for President Obama’s gun control agenda.

Biden told those gathered: “Common sense facts are these assault weapons are unnecessary and dangerous weapons that put our law enforcement personnel at risk. You guys know a lot of departments around the country. I’ve been working with the police agencies for 35 years. I am going to say something outrageous: You’ve had no better friend over the last 35 years than me. We have to speak for all those voices, speak for those 20 beautiful children, who died 69 days ago, 12 miles from here.”

Malloy said that he would move for a ban on high capacity gun magazines, require statewide background checks for the transfer of guns and expand Connecticut’s existing gun ban laws.

Emails distributed from Organizing For Action, Obama’s propaganda machine, request stories from citizens regarding their personal experiences with gun violence.

Kyle Coplen, founder of the Armed Citizens Project (ACP) is conducting a study to ascertain whether or not “more guns reduce crime or not?” ACP is oofering to giveaway a 20 gauge shotguns to residents in high-crime neighborhoods to see if this weapon would reduce crime.

According to the website: “Gun-control advocates often argue that an increase in guns in an area will lead to an increase in crime, while gun-rights advocates often believe that fewer guns result in more crime. While both sides often argue that their opponents policies will result in more crime, gun-control proponents have largely been the victors when it comes to policy implementation.”

ACP hopes to end the debate of whether or not polices enacted to restrict gun access to citizens would effect change supporting the side of anti-gun activists. This experiment hopes “to find if there exists a causal link between an increase in the presence of firearms and the level of crime.”

In the San Francisco Bay area, police trained teachers and school staff members on specific response guidelines when confronted with an “active shooter”. These measures encouraged those being trained to take their safety into their own hands.

In Charlotte, North Carolina, Larry Hyatt who owns Hyatt Gun Shop, states that the price of ammunition has risen since the gun debate began late last year.

A box of 500 rounds of .22LR caliber was $20 in December; that same box now sells for $49 which translates to a 145% increase.
