Great Mind Thinks Alike

I have noticed a phenomenon occurring over the last year or 2, and it is something that, while it once irritated me a bit, now fills me with a certain sense of comfort that comes from knowing I am not ‘alone’ in some of the rather strange ideas I have. I say irritated me a bit because in all honesty, I have sometimes liked to think of myself as a bit of a “guru,” a “chosen one,” a unique wise man crying in the wilderness of ignorant humanity about the trappings of materialism and how neglecting our spiritual components has stunted our growth as a species. And I say comforted because after coming down from the ego trip that resulted from thinking that I was some kind of guru, I was so happy to embrace the fact – the fact, not the possibility – that there are others out there, people I have never met in ‘real life’ and with whom I  have never spoken, who have come to the very same conclusions I have, walking an entirely different, yet seemingly similar path in life. And for me, the delusions of an over-inflated ego are well worth losing for the happiness and relief that come from the knowledge that what I believe is not so far fetched – at least not to EVERYONE.

So just what is it that I believe that others too are now coming forward with? Well, take this post from one of  my favorite alternative news sites (beforeitsnews.com) for example:

Now, when I read that piece, I thought to myself “whoaaaa… I could have written that, word for word almost!” And for an article that long, that involved and that informational, about such a unique topic, that is saying a LOT! In fact, I felt so compelled to relate that feeling that I left a comment of my own in response to it. There have been some posts by another contributor on that site named ZenGardener that have also very closely mirrored many of my own thoughts, although he seems to have gotten caught up in a little more anger lately than I am comfortable with. Don’t get my wrong, I can totally relate to that anger. But just like Yoda said in the Star Wars series and the Buddha warned, anger and hatred are very dangerous, especially to those who are keen of mind and strong of spirit (my paraphrasing there).

Another nice thing about reading that post today was that it helped me to clarify some of my own thoughts about the nature of what is going on even more. For example – I realized that the true Antichrist, in the sense of some energy that goes against everything the Cosmic Christ taught us through the many manifestations it has had throughout history, is a four letter word – fear. What better to separate us from God and the knowledge that he/she/it is with us always, than an emotional state based on the belief that we are separate from, forgotten by and unworthy of the Love of our Creator for us? And what can make humans do unspeakable things to each other more effectively than fear can? What can spark wars, enslave masses, commit genocide, and oppress better than fear? Here we have all these “Christians” looking for the antichrist, and all these people from other religions looking for their “cosmic bad guy,” praying for the arrival of their “saviors,” completely missing the point and failing to see that the antichrist, just as the Christ, IS all of them.

I phrase all of this in the Judeo-Christian terminology because it’s what I know, but it’s important to realize that these are universal themes – truth, ignorance, humility, arrogance, compassion, hatred. The gods/terms used to embody those principles are just that – terms. For I believe that the thread of truth that runs through Christianity (basically, what Christ himself said, and the other good, non-hell fire stuff) is the same thread of truth that runs through Buddhism and Hinduism and Islam and Judaism and Native American spirituality and all spiritual and religious thought systems around the world and entire universe. Of course we, like the good human beings we are, had to go in and do some editing in all the great texts to make sure they said what we thought they meant so everyone – all the ‘ignorant’ people – could understand. But before those edits, I am fairly certain that they all said the same thing : love (be nice) to one another and all living things. Period. Millions upon millions of words have been written about who begat who, and who will go to hell, and what one has to do to get 77 virgins, and how one can skip incarnating again and go to Nirvana – but in essence, all they really say is BE NICE.

And to my utter astonishment, as well as that of an increasing number of people, we just can’t seem to do that! Not on a personal scale, not on a neighborhood-wide scale, not on a state scale, not on a national scale, and not on a global scale. And why not? Well, I tend to blame it on the devil – FEAR. A fear that has been bred into us from the very beginning through church, school, television, music, movies, literature, tradition, history, bigotry, economics, science, ignorance, ad infinitum. We have been programmed so deeply with this lack-based, “I got mine,” us vs. them, good vs. bad, right vs. wrong, democrat vs. republican, white vs. black, Christian vs. Muslim, US vs North Korea mentality that it seems there is virtually no hope of ever hitting the reset button on this game – we’re headed for hell in a handbasket, there is nothing any of US can do, and no one is going to come save us.

AHAAAA! But THAT’S where we are wrong! Because our “savior” has already come – and that savior is the TRUTH. Again, I go back to Christian texts and remember when Christ said “seek the truth and the same shall set you free.” Now of course, “they” (the religious scholars) have always taught us that Christ spoke in metaphors and parables, because he couldn’t POSSIBLY really mean what he said, right? I mean, when he said “if ye believe as I believe, works as these shall you do, and even greater works,” well, how could they build a religion of followers if he really meant that? In fact, I am stunned that they actually left that saying in the Bible. I always wondered, even as a kid, why it was blasphemy to even SUGGEST that we could be like Christ someday when he himself said we could – and actually said we could be greater! Now, I think the reason it is still in there is because there is a Power greater than those who control the money, the media and the resources on this planet – or rather think they do. And that Power is manifested as and regenerated by the Truth. “They” have hidden, deleted, modified, and plain destroyed much of it, but have not been able to eradicate it completely, and that leaves me to conclude that there must be some great Force, some power, some energy or group of people working throughout history that have served as guardians of the truth to ensure that it survived, though emaciated and disfigured it may be.

Wow, this is turning out to be much longer than I expected – guess I have a lot to say on this topic, eh? Lol. The nice thing is knowing that even if I don’t get it all out, someone else out there will. In fact, they probably already have. And it seems that something, some energy, some force of consciousness, some latent source of wisdom and truth within a select number of people is coming alive at this time. And it is not doing so quietly, but making itself known throughout the world by means of this virtual community we have here on the world wide web. Indeed, knowledge has been greatly increased, and it has been possible for the Truth to be spread to all corners of the Earth via the Internet – all things that were prophesied to happen. Now, we stand on the brink of what looks like it will be WW3, another thing prophesied to come to pass. But as much as we start to feel afraid, we need to remember all the GOOD things that were prophesied too – things like the coming of the Comforter, and the meek inheriting the Earth, and true Justice being served. These things too were foretold.

And NOT just for the so-called “Christians.” In fact, I know – yes, I KNOW – that if Christ were here today and read about all the crap that had been done is his name, he would have a shit fit! Don’t believe me? Go back and read just the New Testament, and tell me anywhere he says anything about only Christians going to heaven, or about building a church in his name, or worshiping him – yeaahhhhh… he pretty much said NOT to do any of those things. Fact is, we are ALL Sons and Daughters of God, and WE are the ones we’eve been waiting for. We ARE important, and cared for, and have NOT been abandoned. We CAN survive, and even flourish in these perilous times. All we need to do is accept the truth. And the truth is, well – that’s for you to discover on your own. When you do, you’ll know it- because no matter who you are or what you believe, we all have “eyes to see, and ears to hear” – we just have to open them.
