Scientists Confirm Dinosaurs Sat on Their Eggs like Chickens
If you believe all the media hype over the last 20 or so years, you think dinosaurs are ferocious killing machines. But scientists keep pulling the beasts closer to birds. Have we been scared of giant chickens all this time? And what does this mean for the future of dino-movies?
Don’t worry, it’s just a bird-like reptile.
According to Live Science, scientists checked for pores in the fossilized eggs of one dinosaur species and found them to be much closer to the standard chicken egg than to that of a reptile.
Porosity is important because buried eggs have to be more porous than eggs that are sat upon. The pore similarities between bird and dinosaur eggs support the theory that dinosaurs brooded over their nests.
Earth Sky reports that the species of dinosaur studied, the Troodon, laid its eggs to be half-buried and half-exposed.
Thus, the adult Troodon played a part in incubation. While this behavior cannot be generalized across the dinosaur kingdom, it further supports the link between dinosaur and bird.
What does this mean for the vehemently anti-dinosaur media? It means they will have to fall further in step with the “dinosaurs are giant chickens” agenda. Any new Jurassic Park films will have to feature giant feathers and dinosaurs pooping on car windows.
