Hayden’s Note: McCain Visits Syria, Meets with Terrorists, err… “Rebel Leaders”

The leaders of the Supreme Military Council of the Free Syrian Army told the senator they want the U.S. to provide arms, a no-fly zone, and strikes on Hezbollah.

Sen. John McCain Monday became the highest-ranking U.S. official to enter Syria since the bloody civil war there began more than two years ago, The Daily Beast has learned.

The “Syrian rebels”, as I’ve stated for a very long time, are mostly made up of guerrilla fighters, insurgents, and freelance mercenaries willing to fight for whomever pays. We saw this exact same operation in Libya, and again, the “rebels” received American support, including money, arms, logistics, communications, and air support. Many of those “rebels” were openly-admitted al-Qaeda members, some who had notoriously killed American soldiers only a year prior.

I understand that some of you are fiercely patriotic, but start questioning things like this. It is a direct violation of the National Defense Authorization Act to arm or support al-Qaeda members, as well as meeting the very definition of treason – “…to give aid or support to the enemy.”

Do you see the blatant lies here?  The conversation we’re having in Iraq and Afghanistan label them as murdering, extremist terrorists. In Libya and Syria, we label these same freelance insurgents as mere “rebels”, in need of our Air Force, money, and guns. I’m not a fan of Syria’s President or administration, by any means… but let’s get real here. Syria poses zero threat to America and our safety is further threatened by meddling in foreign affairs. This is a land grab; a resource war, and will continue until more people start to deconstruct the poorly written lies surrounding it!

McCain, one of the fiercest critics of the Obama administration’s Syria policy, made the unannounced visit across the Turkey-Syria border with Gen. Salem Idris, the leader of the Supreme Military Council of the Free Syrian Army. He stayed in the country for several hours before returning to Turkey.

Both in Syria and Turkey, McCain and Idris met with assembled leaders of Free Syrian Army units that traveled from around the country to see the U.S. senator. Inside those meetings, rebel leaders called on the United States to step up its support to the Syrian armed opposition and provide them with heavy weapons, a no-fly zone, and airstrikes on the Syrian regime and the forces of Hezbollah, which is increasingly active in Syria.

Idris praised the McCain visit and criticized the Obama administration’s Syria policy in an exclusive interview Monday with The Daily Beast.

“The visit of Senator McCain to Syria is very important and very useful especially at this time,” he said. “We need American help to have change on the ground; we are now in a very critical situation.”

How do John McCain and his colleagues feel about the war in Syria?

“What we want from the U.S. government is to take the decision to support the Syrian revolution with weapons and ammunition, anti-tank missiles and anti-aircraft weapons,” Idris said. “Of course we want a no-fly zone and we ask for strategic strikes against Hezbollah both inside Lebanon and inside Syria.”
