Opinion: Is Adam Kokesh 'Armed Revolt' an Act of Violence?

Many have questioned whether or not it is a good idea to join the Adam Kokesh ‘armed revolt’ in Washington DC on July 4th 2013. At first glance, it might seem a provocative invitation. But looking closer, you’ll understand that the only thing to gain on Independence Day with an illegal march on our Nation’s capital (open carry is illegal in DC, see gun laws) is a massive publicity stunt for Adam Kokesh. Notice how Alex Jones cautiously analyzed the situation first before succumbing to massive peer pressure by his audience to join the event… Classic AJ! Only until the story began picking up national attention in the MSM did the self-proclaimed alpha dog of the liberty movement decide to co-opt the event for himself so as to not allow Adam garner too much publicity on his own. It is important to note that Adam Kokesh describes himself as a libertarian who believes in the non-aggression principle yet on the Alex Jones radio show clearly states during his interview on May 6, 2013 that ‘this is an armed revolt against the American Gov’t. Make no mistake about it’ he says @ 1:19, video titled — Group To March To White House With Guns To Defy Tyranny

Does this sound like the words from an authentic libertarian that believes in the Non-Aggression principle? Telegraphing to the American people and authorities that he is planning for an armed revolt in America? Does this make any sense? Adding more fuel to the fire, Adam was recently arrested at a peaceful pot-smoking / smoke-out event in Philadelphia of which he has attended 5 years in a row. As the keynote speaker, Adam obviously incites the crowd to smoke anyway despite the signs and overwhelming police presence warning the group otherwise. This is where there appears to be a clear violation of Adam’s first amendment right to free speech as protected by the U.S. Constitution. But the question is, what did Adam expect? He just telegraphed to authorities on the Alex Jones show that he is planning for an ‘armed revolt’ on Independence day. How is this not a red flag and why wouldn’t authorities arrest him? More importantly, why would Adam Kokesh openly jeopardize his ‘armed revolt’ on July 4th for a seemingly insignificant pot smoking get together? Why not tread water carefully leading up to this massively controversial event? Unless he planned on getting arrested… THIS IS WHERE WE HAVE TO QUESTION ADAM’S MOTIVES. Of which Adam clearly does on a regular basis on his soapbox, hypercritical YouTube reality show Adam vs. the Man. Is this really about the movement Adam? Or is this about you? If it’s not about you, why are you working so hard to be picked up by police? You’ve garnered thousands of new fans and national media attention. But what good has this done for the liberty movement you say you represent? Has it helped or hurt it?

Worst-case scenario 

On a worst-case basis, Adam’s march in Washington DC on July 4th could be used by federal agents to provocateur a violent act in order to discredit and demonize the liberty movement in general. People could lose their lives of which Adam would be responsible. We could literally have another Boston on our hands… If the event isn’t provocateured by a government agent or plant it could realistically be disrupted by a legitimate crazed gunmen who decides he wants his 10-minutes of fame on national television. What good would that do? How is Adam going to control these potential outbreaks of violence? More importantly, why would he willingly jeopardize a movement he says he represents and put at risk the safety and integrity of all its constituents? Why would he openly encourage such a dramatic vulnerability and potentially  tee-up the entire liberty movement for a fall? What does he have to gain? Fame, notoriety, sponsors, more ad revenue for the Adam vs. the Man platform? Has he bargained with authorities to avoid prosecution for not paying his taxes? Is he a government agent? Does this sound like somebody that cares about the liberty movement or does this sound like a reckless ‘meathead’ approach to an otherwise peaceful movement for positive pro-active change in America? What is clear is that Adam either hasn’t done his homework and isn’t as smart as he appears or he has strategized a master-plan well in advance and has been using it as a publicity stunt from the very beginning. Either that, or he is paid opposition by either the U.S. or Russian governments. Remember, Adam was recently employed by Russia Today with his own TV show and has also very publicly acknowledged that he does not pay his taxes (a criminal violation of the law). The question is, will you march with Adam on Independence day?

Critical consequences
