How Fox News Betrayed the Conservatives…and Everybody!

I love the smell of napalm in the morning.

Most people know there is no real difference between the Republican party and the Democrat party. Politicians all gear their vote towards getting more votes, and not towards what is right or morally correct. This same disease has infected the media.

Simply, the stories are written to entertain. They are written for the reporter before the reporter goes on the air. They are invariably opinion pieces written to titillate an audience.

Story telling for adults.

Up to a few years ago Fox news did seem to provide an alternative. While still sketchy on facts, there seemed to be an honest attempt to find the other slant of the story, to oppose the state issued pablum that is the fodder of the main stream media.

This sham felt apart in the last couple of weeks with the story on Edward Snowden.

Edward Snowden is the American hero who holds that the constitution is more important than secrecy agreements with people who wish to break the fourth amendment and trash the constitution.

The first couple of days this writer watched the Fox with interest, and the newsies on that channel held up their bargain with the people…they provided different viewpoint and offered much valuable conjecture on the Edward Snowden story.

By the third day this changed. There was no longer any differing opinion, and the hairhead ‘reporters’ listened calmly as a string of people came on their shows not to upbraid the government for going against the will of the people, for having secrets, for spying upon the people in spite of the fourth amendment, but to state that Edward Snowden had damaged the United States. That people were going to die because of what he had done.

Mind you, they never offered any proof. They didn’t say how. They just predicted dire consequences for the American people if such as Edward Snowden wasn’t arrested and put to trial and jailed.

Convicting him before the evidence, before the capture, before anything…just to sway public opinion against the man.

And the reporters listened blithely, never arguing or contradicting, except to give the guest a chance to spout more bile.

In the last week this effort has risen dramatically.

John Stossel, a rather geekish libertarian who has taken the government to task on many occasions, appeared with his list of 100 things he doesn’t like about the government, and it was merely a chance to trade diatribe on all the harmless things he has said, for a chance to say that there was nothing wrong with the government spying on the citizens.

Shame.

Sold out.

One can imagine Mr. Stossell sitting in his cubicle, receiving a visit by the producers.

“John, we let you say a lot of stuff, and it is good for ratings, but we need you to go with us on this. You’ll still get to say what you want, but we need to put this Edward Snowden piece to rest. We need the public lulled so they can forget about it.”

Mr. Stossell, being reasonable, and liking being a TV star, goes along with it.

And, another example, the nefarious Britt Hume.

Mr. Hume is a classic example of mainstream media, twenty years of MSM reporting, and yet he is on Fox, offering his opinion, or, rather, the opinions of his handlers.

To be honest, he has been pretty much behind the scenes on the Fox for a while now, but he was trotted out to give weight to the assertions against Mr. Snowden.

And, the list could go on. this reporter could give you instance upon instance of the hairheads of the Fox agreeing with the government that breaks the fourth amendment, and who now goes tooth and nail after somebody who has stood up for it.

Thus, the public is left with one more example of the dog and pony show that goes for politics, as supported by the MSM…which now includes Fox News.
