IRS Refunds Tens Of Millions Of Your Tax Dollars To Illegal Aliens

While many Americans struggle to earn a living or barely scrape by on unemployment and live in fear of IRS audits, illegal aliens and non-resident aliens have gained cumulative millions off our taxpayer money. According to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), in 2011, the IRS sent more than $46 million in tax refunds to 23,994 “unauthorized” alien workers who all listed the same address in Atlanta, GA. The Atlanta address wasn’t the only one that received millions in tax refunds housing thousands; there were actually four addresses in Atlanta and six in other states that were issued anywhere from 1,846 to 23,994 tax refunds each. The TIGTA audit report was published last year at the request of Congress and exposed a problem Washington has been aware of for the better part of a decade.

CNS news.com broke down the report as follows:

The IRS sent 11,284 refunds worth a combined $2,164,976 to unauthorized alien workers at a second Atlanta address; 3,608 worth $2,691,448 to a third; and 2,386 worth $1,232,943 to a fourth.

Other locations on the IG’s Top Ten list for singular addresses that were theoretically used simultaneously by thousands of unauthorized alien workers, included an address in Oxnard, Calif, where the IRS sent 2,507 refunds worth $10,395,874; an address in Raleigh, North Carolina, where the IRS sent 2,408 refunds worth $7,284,212; an address in Phoenix, Ariz., where the IRS sent 2,047 refunds worth $5,558,608; an address in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., where the IRS sent 1,972 refunds worth $2,256,302; an address in San Jose, Calif., where the IRS sent 1,942 refunds worth $5,091,027; and an address in Arvin, Calif., where the IRS sent 1,846 refunds worth $3,298,877.

Since 1996, the IRS has been issuing what is called Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITIN) to both non-resident aliens who have tax liability in the US and illegal aliens who are living in the US but are “unauthorized” to work here. In a previous TIGTA report to Congress in 1999, the report disclosed the IRS practice of “assigning ITINs to undocumented aliens to improve nonresident alien tax compliance seems counterproductive to the Immigration and Naturalization Service’s (INS) mission to identify undocumented aliens and prevent unlawful alien entry.” Seems counterproductive? That statement should be changed to is counterproductive.

If this wasn’t bad enough, the most egregious act by the IRS occurred when it issued 6,411 ITINs to unauthorized aliens using a single address in Morganton, NC. In 2010, there were only 16,681 people in Morganton, according to the Census. For the IRS to be correct in issuing those ITINs to unauthorized aliens using that single address, it means 38 percent of the town’s population were unauthorized aliens living in a single dwelling. In May of 2012, NBC news reported that the IRS refunded a total of $4.2 billion to illegals for children in Mexico. These illegal aliens took advantage of a tax loophole known as the Additional Child Tax Credit – a fully refundable credit of up to $1,000 per child. In some cases, illegal aliens claimed 10-12 children, some nieces and nephews, and the children were in Mexico. When one of the undocumented workers was asked why he should receive tax credits for children living in a foreign country, which is against IRS rules. The man’s answer was simple.

“If the opportunity is there and they can give it to me, why not take advantage of it?”

To add insult to injury, the IRS says it can’t change the system unless it gets permission from Congress: closing this loophole would mean passing a new law specifically excluding illegal immigrants from claiming additional child tax credits.

If an American citizen claimed tax credits for children they were not entitled to claim, the IRS would have that person arrested, charged with fraud and tax evasion, tried and convicted, seized every piece of property for recollection of the money and let the poor citizen rot in jail. But, wait, the government has a solution for this problem of illegals by way of the new immigration bill which will give amnesty to these lawbreakers. You can bet your bottom dollar that amnesty will not get back $4.2 billion in total monies fraudulently paid to these people. And, you can bet your last nickel these lawbreakers will continue to receive fraudulent tax refunds after receiving amnesty; just look at the attitude conveyed about it. One may have said it, but all those doing it are guilty of the same mindset.

One can’t help but wonder from which liberal group these illegal aliens got their mindset. Let’s face facts. They come across our border illegally, set up house and claim Constitutional rights. We all know the Constitution limits the federal government, not provide citizens with rights. Americans request, demand and expect the federal government to do their Constitutional duty and protect us from invasion. Because we demand the federal government to do their duty, these illegal aliens, who are entitled to nothing because they are not citizens, turn around and call us “racist,” “bigots,” and any other unpleasant term in Spanish or English if they can speak it. These illegals don’t care what burden is placed on the American taxpayer as long as they can get away with scamming money and benefits from the pockets of law-abiding Americans. It seems that Washington doesn’t care either or Congress would scrap this piece of trash known as the Gang of Eight Immigration bill. They are the Gang of Eight for sure; but, the Gang of Eight of what I cannot say in print.
