Suspended and Arrested: Teen Charged for Wearing NRA Shirt (VIDEO)

Appearing before a judge yesterday, a West Virginia teen was officially charged for refusing to change his NRA shirt while in school.

The Logan County Police Department claim 14-year-old Jared Marcum was arrested for disturbing the education process and obstructing an officer. The Logan Middle School student could face a $500 fine and up to a year in jail.

“Me, I’m more of a fighter and so is Jared and eventually we’re going to get through this,” Jared’s father Allen Lardieri said. “I don’t think it should have ever gotten this far.”

The arresting officer, James Adkins, claims Jared refused to stop talking, that hindered his ability to his job, hence, the obstruction charge. But Marcum’s attorney, Ben White points out that nowhere in the arresting officer’s petition does it mention the teen ever making threats or acting in a violent matter.

“In my view of the facts, Jared didn’t do anything wrong,” said White. “I think officer Adkins could have done something differently.”

Although White says he will continue working to have Marcum’s charges dismissed, if that doesn’t happen, the teen will be back in court July 11th.
