19 Firefighters From Elite Hotshot Crew Killed In Arizona Wildfires

19 firefighters with the Prescott Fire Department were killed and 22 others wounded in a wildfire on Yarnell HIll. The Yarnel Hill fire has already destroyed half of the 500 homes in Yarnell and the rest are at risk. This is the 4th single highest loss of firefighters in our history and the most since 9/11. It is the deadliest single wildfire incident since 1991.

The 19 firefighters that died were all part of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, a group within the department specially trained to fight wildfires. All 19 in the picture above died. They were the first otshot crew recognized by the US government. -Mort
