ALERT!!! COOK COUNTY, IL "County Sheriff's teams are performing door-to-door gun confiscation"
Sheriff Tom Dart is sending his Seizure Teams to more than 3,000 households. The teams show up in force at each household and demand that they turn over all of their privately-owned firearms to the state. The seizure teams also confiscate the permission slips.
The point that seems to be lost on people is that all people have certain inalienable rights, including the right to bear arms and protect your family. The state has no legitimate authority to tell people what pieces of property that they may not own.
The Bill of Rights is not a benefits package that only applies to some people and not others. Either we honor them for everyone, or they are simply privileges doled out by the government. Don’t be surprised when you end up on the ‘list’ of people who don’t deserve rights.
What you are seeing is a criminal act performed by the government, violating the supreme law of the land, the constitution. “The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed” means exactly that.

I agree. But what they are doing is a piecemeal attack on citizens. They pull this crap when we are not even thinking about it. They randomly select a community and attack various households. It is arbitrary and illegal. The problem is when a SWAT team attacks your house at 2AM with a couple dozen cops, you are caught off guard. Also they pilfer and steal weapons during disasters, hurricanes etc and literally loot homes of weapons. The problem these cops are going to have is that they will be distrusted, become targets and receive no assistance from a disgruntled population. These kind of stories need to make national news, beyond these blogs and internet sights. Also any body “banding” together for any cause to preserve individual rights has to do it quietly and and without the “facebook”, internet spied upon means. Old snail mail, land phone lines and backyard BBQ meetings are more “secure”.

The Second Amendment provides Americans a fundamental right to bear arms that cannot be violated by state and local governments, the Supreme Court ruled Monday in a long-sought victory for gun rights advocates.
The decision extended the court’s 2008 ruling in District of Columbia v. Heller that “the Second Amendment protects a personal right to keep and bear arms for lawful purposes, most notably for self-defense within the home.” That decision applied only to federal laws and federal enclaves such as Washington; it was the first time the court had said there was an individual right to gun ownership rather than one related to military service.

The Cops are not the bad guy here. I live in Cook County, the suburbs of Chicago. The people who are having guns taken from their homes are people who should not have them in the first place. Convicted felons lose the right to own firearms (as well as the right to vote). Mentally incompetent people do not have the right to own a firearm. The guns rights advocates have no legit complaint here.
That is the claim being made, yes. What would concern me is whether these claims are legit. From the fed on down, prosecutor’s offices fight each other to issue as many indictments to prosecute people as they can to ONLY load their desks and get fat budgets. I would ask how many of these revoked foid people really are dangerous criminals, and how many are non-violent people who got railroaded into the corrupt system and forced to plea out? And then, would a real criminal ever have a foid card to begin with? I doubt it. They would have unregistered if not stolen weapons, and take a short ride to a neighboring state to stock up on ammo. This is very unconstitutional. Sad thing is the sheeple are letting it like it’s ok! Thats why never get a fricking concealed weapons permit.
First off this violates due process in the worst way. They’re using things outside thier normal chanels to fins out who might have been a convicted felon or headcase. I would wager a small percentage were actual felons while most had let the permit elapse. Get that point too they’re confiscating them just because their what should not have to be permited, for the second amendment is our permit. You people below don’t brush this under the rug by claiming “Oh it’s just getting guns out of bad peoples hands”. Thats just letting in the first baby step to bigger and more confiscations.
