Racism…are Blacks More Racist than Whites?

I love the smell of napalm in the morning. Racism Taken to the Extreme!

This was the question, are blacks more racist than whites, that a friend put to me the other day. It was posed as blacks roamed the streets in riot, looking for things to bust and break.

Now, I will give you my own opinion at the end of this article, but let me recite the points my friend was making. Mind you, he was speaking in context of the Zimmerman trial, and so his points are mostly from that situation.

George Zimmerman is not white, he is Hispanic and white, so blacks are rioting over race, and they don’t seem to know this fact.

The FBI found no relevant racism in the Zimmerman/Martin incident, yet blacks are rioting about racism.

George didn’t say anything about blacks, except to identify Martin as a black. Martin, on the other hand, called George a creepy ass Cracker. Cracker, for those of you who don’t have access to a dictionary, is a term coined after a slave master, a person who ‘cracks’ the whip. Thus, Martin was more racist than Zimmerman.

Blacks are in the streets screaming that whites kill blacks, yet the facts are that 93% of blacks murdered are murdered by other blacks. Which is to say that 13% of the population commit 50% of the murders!

By contrast, I think whites actually only commit black murders something like 9% of the time.

And, the real crux of the matter, the police didn’t find enough circumstance to charge George Zimmerman with murder. It was only after racists like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson got into the mix, that a political decision was made.

And thus, a tragic killing motivated by self defense became a race trial.

So those are the points my friend was making, and there was enough truth in them that I had to pay attention. And that brings us to my opinion.

My opinion is that racism is a crime of ignorance.

Simply, one race believes that they have been put upon, or have special rights, and therefore can suppress another race.

But the impetus is in ignorance.

Are the blacks more racist?

I would prefer to say that only ignorant people are more racist. And if there is a certain large percentage of blacks that can be ignorant, then that’s the way it is.

But, that said, ignorance is curable.

And, it doesn’t mean that there aren’t whites that aren’t ignorant. Believe me, if I started listing ignorant whites I would shortly be crying for the shame of my race.

So the point is to raise above racism…and ignorance.

I’ve lived in a black community (Oakland). I’ve walked the streets, and, tell the truth, I didn’t feel eyes upon me, hear remarks about the white cracker, or anything like that. Generally speaking, I don’t believe any race is that much more ignorant than another.

As a matter of fact, I found it refreshing to be in a different culture, and to experience the viewpoints and idiosyncrasies of that culture.

It was educational and interesting.

Look at it this way. Under the skin is blood, and all blood is red.

Or, look at it this way. We all wake up as human beings, and some of us wear differently colored clothes (skins).

So what?

The ONLY so what is when one race, white or black, tries to claim that they are a victim, or that they are better, or some other ignorance.

And, as for my friend? Of course he is still my friend. His ignorance is curable…but not if I close my eyes and ears, think that I am the only one right, and that he is totally wrong.

Heck, if I don’t listen to the ignorant, especially about things like racism, then how will I ever change my circumstance, adjust my situation, and make this a better world?
