On Friday President Obama, in an informal briefing in the Rose Garden instead of the usual press room of the White House, reiterated his earlier statement that Trayvon Martin, the young man killed in the Sanford, Florida, shooting in February 2012, “could have been my son.” Said Obama:
You know, when Trayvon Martin was first shot I said that this could have been my son. Another way of saying that is Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago.
And then he expanded on his remarks in which he attempted to describe the experience many young black men allegedly have in today’s society:
There are very few African American men in this country who haven’t had the experience of being followed when they were shopping in a department store. That includes me.
There are very few African American men who haven’t had the experience of walking across the street and hearing the locks click on the doors of cars. That happens to me — at least before I was a senator.
There are very few African Americans who haven’t had the experience of getting on an elevator and a woman clutching her purse nervously and holding her breath until she had a chance to get off. That happens often.
And then he capped his remarks off with his conclusion: If Martin had been white, there would likely have been no shooting:
If a white male teen was involved in the same kind of scenario, that, from top to bottom, both the outcome and the aftermath might have been different.
The president neglected to say that, according to the jury decision in George Zimmerman’s trial, if Martin had truly been an innocent person, nothing would have happened the night of the shooting either, regardless of his race. If Martin was innocent and proceeded to walk to his father’s house, without stopping to confront Zimmerman, he would still be alive. If he hadn’t sucker-punched Zimmerman in the face, jumped on top of him, and began beating Zimmerman’s head into the ground, he would still be alive today, regardless of his race.

how do you know trayvon wasn’t defending himself against zimmerman. YOU DON’T and that is the point. you only WANT to believe that this kid approach GZ and cannot fathom that perhpas GZ approached him then attempted to ‘hold’ or detain him, knowing the police were on the way, then got hit?
Because I have delt with enough black teenagers to know exactly how they react when they are caught and cannot get away. GZ was on his phone and TM knew GZ would continue to follow him until the police arrived and TM did want to wait for that. You will say how do you know that? Well TM had his phone also and could have called the Police if he was afraid of being followed by the RAPIST (LOL), OR TM could have knocked on someone door to get attention but he did not. He ambushed GZ in the dark raining not well lit area like the Thug he was. GZ saved the hundreds of future TM victims and defended himself. Anyone who think it’s ok to lurk around a strangers house to get out of the rain in the night time is just a moron or a black who see’s everything through color 1st and that is racist.
Okay let’s think that’s what happened so why didn’tTrayvon wait for the police to come instead he went ape and beat Mr. Zimmerman’s head into the concrete for over a minute sounds like a nice young boy
I dont know about anyone else’s neighborhoods, but when the cops get called, they take their time arriving. It only takes a milli-second for someone to pull the trigger, and isnt that what happened? Oh. Ok.
You dont follow people, if someone’s following me, Im going to defend myself. PERIOD. I dont care what their skin color is, a creeper is a creeper. What Trayvon does in his free time has absolutely nothing to do with what happened to him that night. He felt threatened, he defended himself. You think someone following you to probably attack you is going to wait for the cops to arrive before they attack? No.
