Not news so much . . .

 . . . but an observation that;

   Government has failed to adequately educate at least 4 generations of people creating far worse problems for everyone than if they had educated everyone well so that an amicable solution for the well being of all peoples would be found. America has an average rating of 31 of 33 in terms of reading, scientific and mathematical literacy scales. http://www.photius.com/rankings/#EDUCATION  Not to mention compulsory studies that would assist the development of an equanimous mind. There could be peace.

Of course, I suppose that may be news to some.

   There is a gaping hole in society where compassion once resided. Lead astray by the elected that wanted to make a difference. “Winning at all costs” the mantra says – so someone can lose? There lies compassion. Disrespected and thought of as weak, forgotten without a glance.

   Subtle tho its power. Familiar, quiet, present, untested. Something we would all enjoy when the chips are down.

Is it really so hard to do the right thing ( for the well being of everyone ) ?
