The point is lost in the confused and misinformed ramblings from those who do not understand comets or astrophotography of comets.
Comets are historically associated with bad omens of doom and gloom. ISON just happens to be the latest comet that the doom-n-gloomers have latched on to. But, this happens with almost any bright comet that is newsworthy enough for the masses to notice.
No matter what the facts are, there will always be those who distort the truth either inadvertently or purposefully to promote their own agenda. Just wait until October of next year when a comet (C/ 2013 A1) nearly side-swipes Mars. Even though it is predicted to miss the red planet by a safe margin, there will be lots of doom-n-gloomers claiming otherwise and will be screaming how it will bring about Armageddon. Just wait and see! lol
Armageddon is a place where armies from the nations will gather. There is no battle described. I imagine it’s a peace keeping force, after Israel loses the war.
