JUST IN: 14-Year-old Ayvani Perez Found Safe after 30-Hour Kidnapping Ordeal
Federal and local authorities are reporting that 14-year-old Ayvani Hope Perez of Clayton County, Georgia has been found safe after a nearly 30-hour kidnapping ordeal.
The Latina teen was abducted by two men from her home during a home invasion on Tuesday morning. Two suspects are now in custody. The men entered the home at approximately 2:00 a.m. demanding money and jewelry from the girl’s mother, who was home with her two teen-age children. When she told the men she had no money they shot the family dog and took the girl.
Perez’ mother Maria Magdalena Corral was arrested for drug trafficking last year. It is not known if the kidnapping was a random act or the family was targeted.
Two men have been tentatively identified as suspects: Wildrego Jackson, a career felon, and Carlos Juan Rodriguez, a Mexican national. Reports indicate that authorities are still searching for two other suspects.
Nearly 150 law enforcement personnel deployed to help locate Perez. The collaboration between local, state and federal is being credited for her safe return. She was found in Conyers, Georgia not too far from her Ellenwood, Georgia home. The family had just moved into the home some four weeks ago.
Perez has reunited with her family and is currently at a local hospital for evaluation.
