Chicago man shot in Halloween paintball prank gone wrong as real gunfire returned
The duo must have thought it would be hilarious to open fire with a paintball gun on a bunch of unsuspecting Chicago residents, but the joke was on them when somebody returned fire with a very real gun that shot bullets filled with lead instead of paint.
A poorly planned Halloween prank went awry when a Chicago man opened fire with a paintball gun and received returning fire from a very real gun, leaving one man hospitalized from a gunshot wound.
It was bound to be a spooky night filled with fun and laughs at the expense of Chicago residents fearing for their life, or so the duo must have thought. Police said 39-year-old Jason Wells from the Englewood neighborhood on the city’s South Side was charged with a misdemeanor count of possessing and discharging an air rifle, ABC News reported.
But he wasn’t the only one in on the “fun.” According to the Chicago Sun-Times, a 21-year-old male was also present and in possession of a paintball. This man was the unfortunate of the pair and was shot by an actual firearm after trying to scare people with their paintball guns. He was hospitalized to be treated for his gunshot wound and is reported to not have been charged.
