The American Mafia In 2013 (Video)

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Many people I don’t think realize that the mafia is still around and strong too.  Many crime families across the country have gone defunct such as those in New Orleans, Dallas, Pittston, Seattle, Rochester, Denver and San Jose.  Others are just barely hanging like Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh and San Francisco and still others are signifigantly smaller than they use to be like St.Louis, Cleveland and Chicago.  But that doesnt mean they aren’t still there and doing what they have always done.  The 5 families in New York have also moved into places like Las Vegas, Florida, Atlantic City, the West Coast and even Canada.  The Feds have kept up their pressure on the mafia even getting former Bonanno crime family boss Joseph Massino to turn state’s witness against his fellow mobsters, a first in history. As of late however, the feds watching the mafia have been gutted by budget cuts and the prosecution have lost several cases leading to a renaissance of sorts for the mob.

The mafia is generally involved in the following rackets: Racketeering, loan sharking, money laundering, murder, drug trafficking, pornography, bookmaking, corruption, Arms trafficking, arson, assault, battery, bribery, burglary, cigarette smuggling, chop shop, conspiracy, contract killing, counterfeiting, extortion, fencing, fraud, illegal gambling, larceny, robbery, skimming, theft, truck hijacking, pornography, prostitution, tax evasion, labor unions, cargo theft, credit card fraud, point shaving, jewlery heist, waste management, and protection racket.

Below is the list of crime families still active in the United States and ther leaders.  The structure of the mafia looks like this:

The lists below are as accurate as I can find personally. It does not mean that they are 100% accurate but they are pretty darn close.  I want to thank Mukremin Gul for the awesome charts. He does fantastic work and research and I and many others are grateful for it.  The Mafia in America is alive and well. -Mort

It shouldn’t be no surprise to anyone that these organizations still exist, only difference from then to now is that they have learned to keep a low profile of conducting such business activities.

The biggest mafia gang in the U.S. and they do not keep a low profile is the “Washington D.C. Gang”.
They have associates in all 50 States and perpetuate crimes against humanity on a daily basis. What this gang is doing is no different than those other organizations that is listed above, it’s called “conducting business as usual” but on much more evil keel than those others listed.
