UK Plans To Tax The Air You Breathe, Spain Is Taxing Sunlight

The Air Tariff Control system will assess charges in different areas of the country and every household will be liable for payments, which will be administered by local authorities and added to council tax bills.

The project, to be run by a private firm under a five-year licence, is designed to fund air quality improvement initiatives.

One senior air technician at the Environment Agency said: “Air is natural but, just like water, it is a finite resource that we have to manage sensibly. Water quality and supply improved with privatisation and there is no reason why this should not have the same impact on air. The aim is to allow everyone to enjoy high-quality breathing air.”

As if Spaniards had not already been dissuaded by the potential €60 million fines they face for illegally generating their own solar power, they now have to look forward to a knock on the door from the ‘solar police’.

A change to the ruling Popular Party’s (PP) Energy Law allows inspectors to “raid” properties they are suspicious of, armed only with administrative authorization.

If the suspect denies entry, Spain’s Industry Department will then ask for a court order that guarantees inspectors access to the property alongside Spanish national police.

It is bad enough that governments already tax the food you need, the water you need and that you even have to pay for a place to live.  These are things that are essentials to life, they are basic needs that nobody should be taxed for or made money off of.  Now they are thinking up even more psychopathic ways to make money by taxing the air you breathe and the sun that greets you everyday.  It just blows my mind.  It is crap like this that reminds me of why im a good old fashioned anarchist. Freedom is something you cannot put a price on.  Absolute freedom is absolute.  You breathe air without fear of having to pay for it or sustain the things in your house with solar energy without having to pay for it.  Why?  It’s basic freedom.  Solar energy is free energy.  They cant turn the sun on and off, they cannot control the sun so they control the means by which you can use the sun.  Don;t let that happen.  To hell with the solar police.  To hell with this Air tariff, I mean that is some of the most ridiculous crap I’ve ever seen.  Look in your history books, governments have never been a good thing.  -Mort
