An Open Letter to Liberal Women: Stop Worrying About Your Vagina and Start Worrying About the Economy

Dear Liberal Women,

Please stop worrying about your vagina.  I know it’s hard, because apparently that is all you think about, but why don’t you give it a try?  Why don’t you start worrying about the economy, because that is the real issue women are facing.

Regardless of what you try to say, no one is trying to take away your birth control pills.  You can scream and shout and dance around in your vagina costumes, but the truth remains that no person has asked to take away your contraception. In fact, contraception is widely available and is extremely affordable, even without Obamacare.

Also, as much as we would like to save the life of every unborn child, the fight for abortion was decided back in 1973 with Roe v. Wade.  Unfortunately, abortion will probably always be available – maybe not late-term abortion and, dear God we pray, not in Gosnell type horror abortion clinics, but it will still be available.  So what are you screaming about?

Why don’t you start screaming about the real issue affecting women – the economy.  In today’s economy, more women are unemployed or have dropped out of the workforce than has been seen in decades.  Who cares if you get birth control if you can’t even get a job?  Who cares if you can get an abortion if you can’t even put food on the table or take care of the children you already have?

I know by now you are shouting that this is why you fight for access to welfare for all women and access to Medicaid for everyone who needs it, but if you really care about women’s rights, is that what you really want?  Do you really want women and children to live their lives dictated by their circumstances because they can’t rise above the poverty level?  Is it more important to you that a woman can stay home and have sex with her significant other without the risk of having a child than giving that same woman the opportunity to be the next Amelia Earhart, Hillary Clinton, or Marissa Mayer?

The failure of our country to improve the economy and improve the job market is devastating, not only to women, but to our country as a whole.

In the past few years as you have staged your “Night of a Thousand Vaginas” charity shows and your Code Pink vagina protests, here is what has been happening to the economy:

• The poverty rate has risen from 12.5% in 2007 to 15% in 2012.
• The average income has declined 8.3% since 2007.
• More people are on some sort of government welfare than have a full-time job.
• The number of people on food stamps has increased from just over 27 million in 2007 to 47.6 million in 2013.
• Only 58.6% of people ages 16 to 64 participate in the labor force – a drop of 4.1% since December 2007.

So, what do you say?  Are you with me?  Can you give up focusing on your lady parts for just a few minutes and wrap your mind around the real issues women are facing?

Probably not, but at least I tried.
