Yesterday in the Chinese province of Henan,  while waiting for their flights and started a riot.passengers became impatient

The passengers became angry after snow delays had them stuck in the airport for many hours.

This time of year is usually extremely busy for airports in the area because China’s New Year holiday just came to a close.

During the riots, fights broke out, and the passengers destroyed any airline property that was in their path.

At around 4.30pm heavy snow forced Zhengzhou’s airport to close and caused around 100 flights to be delayed, according to local reports.

Between then and 10pm, when the airport reopened, and angry passengers reportedly started hurling furniture and equipment around the packed terminal.

There were not enough seats and passengers had to sit on their luggage eating instant noodles. The airport staff were indifferent and said ‘I don’t know’ to questions asked of them,” Henan radio said on its microblog.

We have been working for 24 hours, non-stop, without closing our eyes,” an employee wrote in an online post. “We dare not go outside [the office] since we would be surrounded and verbally abused.”

One passenger gained access to the airport’s control room where she “beat” staff and doused one employee with an unidentified beverage, the Henan Business Daily said.

Earlier in the year the Guardian reported that this situation is actually fairly common in China, and has become such a problem that some employees are now being required to learn Kung Fu.
