American Man Sets Himself On Fire At Covington Grocery Store

COVINGTON, Ga - Authorities say a man dowsed in rubbing alcohol and set himself on fire inside of a Kroger grocery store in Covington, Ga. on Tuesday.
According to the manager of the store, the man doused himself with rubbing alcohol and threatened to set himself ablaze.
Other people stepped in to try and stop the man, but he still managed to set himself afire.
Covington Police said they received a call at about 4:15 regarding a person acting strangely, pulling things off of the shelves and yelling at the store.
Once officers arrived, they saw that the man was dowsing himself with rubbing alcohol and that he held a lighter. The man threatened to set himself ablaze.
Police tacked the man to the ground to prevent him from lighting himself, but the man managed to light himself on fire with at least two officers on top of him, investigators said.
The flames were extinguished, and the man was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Downtown Atlanta with second degree burns. One of the two officers was taken to a local hospital with first degree burns. The second officer was only singed.
The flames were soon extinguished and the man was transported to the hospital. His condition was not immediately known.
Investigators said the man will likely face charges in the incident.
Police are reviewing surveillance footage from the incident and have not decided when they will release it.
The question remains why did this man set himself on fire? Was he making a political statement? We will moniter this situation in the coming days.

Congragulations to the Officers who minimized the results at personal risk.
The officers did a good job at getting him subdued, even after he turned himself into a human torch. I don’t think it was anything political, he was irate and rather incoherent from what I witnessed. I would put my money on either mental health issues, or drugs. He didn’t seem to be phased when he set himself on fire, he only screamed (and that even seemed more in anger than pain) when the officers got him to the ground and extinguished the flames. I do hope they find out what would possibly possess someone to endanger not only himself, but so many innocent lives… The most disturbing thing was how many people were filming the incident with their phones (several were laughing), and the number of young children that were subjected to watch.

Unlike “Tibetan Monks” who “do themselves” because of spiritual beliefs, the “fricking” idiot in this story did so because he was a “lunatic”. Too many “pharmaceuticals”, that’s all!
