First of all, this bill is a HOUSE resolutionl, started by the Republican-controlled House of representatives, so it is most certainly NOT “Obama’s bill”.
AND the “feared” part of FATCA makes U.S. residents accountable for money invested in foreign banks by requiring the offshore financial institutions to provide a 1099 form to the Internal Revenue Service for their American customers.
And I thought I could keep my money safe in Switzerland and NOT pay taxes on it….darn
