Rep. Gov. Sexist Comments On TV Outrages Women

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Want to know why children are doing poorly at school? It’s those working moms, according to Mississippi’s Republican governor, who has ignited a heated debate with his claims, including his remark that it isn’t a mother’s place to teach a child to read.

Yes, decline of education standards is linked to women in the workplace and women teaching children to read, according to Republican Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant, driving his points into homes while interviewed on TV.

During a televised panel discussion Friday, Republican Gov. Phil Bryant quickly realised his controversial remarks would cause a backlash.

He stood by his antiquated chauvinistic claims, as though really believing that women should not be educated [well, maybe just through high school is OK] and should not contribute to the world in any other way other than as a house maid and sex partner.

He was not trying to blame working women for children’s declining education, though, he later claimed.

Asked why American children’s test results had become ‘so mediocre’, he told the panel, hosted by the Washington Post: “Both parents started working, and the mom is in the work place. That’s not a bad thing. I’m going to get in trouble. I can just see – I can see the emails tomorrow. But now, both parents are working. They’re pursuing careers. It’s a great American story now – that women are in the work place.”

He went on to shock viewers by saying he didn’t believe it was the mother’s place to teach children to read.

He added that before women started working, there was a ‘loving, nurturing opportunity’ and both parents had a more time to devote to the family.

Equal opportunities for women began notably in the 1950s and 60s. The struggle for women to be accepted as equal in the workplace is epitomised in the successful TV series Mad Men, set during this period.

Before the womens’ liberation movement, the role for women was the matriarch, the mother and home-maker, cook, cleaner, house organizer, sex partner, nurse, entertainer.

“We’ve come a long way, baby” needs to be explained to Gov. Bryant – on his way out the door of the state capitol without a key.

With leadership like Bryant, no wonder Mississippi has a reputation of having the lowest ranked education system in the United States.

But not to worry, ladies, Phil Bryant’s got other plans that make children smart and well, according to the Jackson Tribune, contributing this last August about the oily man:

Come and listen to a story ’bout a man named Phil.

#A poor governor barely kept his state fed.

#Then one day, he was shinin’ up his boots.

#And up through the ground, he hoped, would come a bubblin’ crude.

#Oil, that is. Black gold. Texas tea.

Bryant’s been hopin’ there’s oil in those them hills of northwest Mississippi.

At a meeting of the Southern States Energy Board July 27, Bryant and Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley announced the commission of a joint study of tar sands between the two states.

What planet does Phil Bryant live on? The cost of living is so high and wages so low that both parents have to work just to keep a roof over their heads. Shows just how much out of touch these smarmy bastards are.

      He is absolutely correct. Women bought into the lies and propaganda of the religion of man hate and perpetual victim hood, who’s goal was /is the destruction of the family.Because women flooded the workplace, wages dropped. This is why it takes 2 incomes to support a family. American females are as pathetic as the blacks, dependent upon the gov. to ;
Support them and their b@st@rd offspring.
Force employers to hire them ( affirmative action, token hires. )
Give them special rights, privileges and deference. Grants, loans, etc.
You filthy things deserve the slavery coming upon you. The young men rightly see you for what you truly are, filthy, vile, disgusting little turds that grovel before the gov. phallus while it pats you on your heads.
Don’t kid yourselves either, you worship a demonic religion of man hate and perpetual victim hood, therefore you are not Christian, nor can you be unless and until you renounce and repent from your wickedness.

Essentially what he’s saying is the fathers are just sperm donors and have no responsibilities passed conception?

      • dennis smith 9512

That’s a doctrine of the religion of man hate and perpetual victim hood. The gov. insists that men must pay all the bills as well.
Feminism was designed to destroy the family and you rubes are too simple too understand that.Females are gullible and easily led. Just like their mother eve, they fell for it hook, line and sinker.
It takes 2 incomes because it was meant to. Grinding down America.

So what he’s saying is fathers are just sperm donors and have no responsibility passed conception?

      • Paul Brown

I don’t see where anyone is saying fathers have no responsibility past conception. He who? Most kids could use a lot more fathering and mothering, I think.

Anonymous is right. Women in the workplace was a result of men no longer being able to support their families as much as a result of women’s liberation. Now fortunately women have a much more nearly equal place in society, but unfortunately society still has a long way to go before they have full equality.

Equality is just part of justice. And until we have justice for all we have justice for none as someone said.

In the meantime, as the one percent suck us dry, it’s becoming harder for both partners to earn a decent income, and many are forced to seek two jobs in a depressed job market. Just what the one percent wants, of course. And the military loves it too, because more people are forced by economics to enlist.

As for the children, we still haven’t found a decent solution for them. In a decent society, maybe responsible adults could be employed providing supervised home and neighborhood play and baby sitting as an alternative to day care.

In fact, if we operated as true communities, we would have community development in which everyone would participate, with the help of professional facilitators and taxpayer-provided resources. Investing in ourselves would be a far better use of our money than buying consumer junk.

You and anon, are basically stool samples. You have believed too many lies and too much propaganda.
Good luck with that, tool. We watch as you swirl in the bowl.
