Lucky Irish Superstitions

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Last month’s St. Patrick’s Daygot Gala Casino looking into lucky Irish superstitions.‘The Luck of the Irish’ is something that Gala were curious about and they have lookedinto exactly what this famous phrase means?

St Patrick’s Day was brought around by Saint Patrick, who is the Patron saint of Ireland. He is known mostly by the Irish for bringing Christianity to the country. The Confession isa spiritual autobiography which give us information and insight into St Patrick. He described himself as a humble-minded man and set out about helping Ireland. He is also famous for driving the ‘snakes’ from Ireland.

The Irish are historically known as being ‘unlucky’ but in these situations, they always seem to land on their feet, hence having ‘the luck of the Irish’. The four leaf clover is also something we consider as being lucky. There is also talk of finding a leprechaun with a pot of gold at the bottom of a rainbow. Due to the ups and downs of the Irish’s history, you could say the Irish welcome good and bad luck as just being ‘luck’. Further to this, Gala have put together a few examples of home remedies that are also classed as being lucky and unlucky see below for the shortened version:

‘A bunch of mint tied around the wrist is a sure remedy for disorders of the stomach.’

‘A sick persons bed must be placed north and south not cross ways.’

St Patrick’s Day is now celebrated by people going out wearing anything from green face paint to Leprechaun hats or anything sparkly with a four leaf clover on it. It is an excuse for people to get together and celebrate one of Ireland’s favourite patrons. Whether lucky or not, he has brought people together for years. The Luck of the Irish has spread all over the world and continues to be celebrated on the 17th March every year. It is an event that many people like to celebrate.
