Murder By Drone Lacked Any Moral Justification: Classic CIA Black Op

The alternative news realm has done more to expose the CIA-run drone assassination program than any other entity in the USA.  Among all the alternative sites, both Storyleak and State of the Nation took the early lead in revealing the unlawful and criminal nature of this repugnant US policy. Both journalistic platforms have repeatedly described droning in these exact terms, as well as murderous, heinous and unconscionable.  It looks like we finally got to those responsible.

Just the week before last, the US announced that it was shutting down its unlawful and odious drone assassination regime in Pakistan.  Hopefully this murderous form of state-sponsored terrorism will be terminated everywhere else in the world, especially where it is conducted under the cloak of national security.  It has even been suggested that drones have murdered US citizens on American soil under the cover of anti-terrorist initiatives. Such is the degree to which murder by droning has gotten completely OUT OF CONTROL.

Let’s face it, the lawless US Federal Government can kill any suspected terrorist it wants to when it invokes national security or anti-terrorism. The real problem with this entrenched and flawed policy of extrajudicial killing is that it quickly becomes a slippery slope, one that will take the nation all the way to hell. Because at the end of the day, anyone — US citizen, illegal alien, H-1B visa holder, investigative journalist, recent immigrant, foreign vacationer, green card holder, visiting diplomat, south-of-the-border drug dealer, returning war vet, militiaman, Tea Party enthusiast, prepper/patriot — can be assassinated by the CIA drone assassination program, if they have been sufficiently labeled a terrorist.

Exactly who is it that tags them with the terrorist label?

That’s the real 64 thousand dollar question here.  In view of the fact that the ‘suspected terrorists’ in question have had no trial; there has been no formal charges lodged in any court of law, and therefore no judge or jury; no defense counsel or prosecutor; no conviction or sentence.  Truly, such a suspension of due process — anywhere in the world — has been as shocking to witness as it has been horrible to watch its graphic consequences by way of drone assassinations.

Particularly when the executioners chose either wedding parties or funerals to conduct their drone assassinations did this whole sordid episode indicate a low point in American foreign policy.  Can you imagine that the CIA used funerals and wedding to pick out their targets because they could count on their ‘suspects’ to appear at such religious events?  That many innocents — young and elderly — would also be brutally killed seemed to make no difference to these cynical decision-makers.

Drone Attack: The Ultimate Fate of the World’s Political Dissidents Labelled “TERRORIST”

Herein lies the real problem with the US-sponsored WorldWide War on Terror.  It has been used by nations near and far to label the most dangerous dissidents in the land with the expectation that they can then be delegitimized, and then ignominiously killed.  How easy is it for one dictatorial regime after another to tar real political dissidents with such a pejorative label.

This process of demonization has been a very convenient way for rogue nations to rid themselves of much needed political activism.  After the assassinations have been carried out, the governments have no concerns about the murdered individual(s) being held high as martyrs, because no one wants to be associated with such alleged terrorist behavior.

This exact dynamic is where the current political climate in the USA seems to be heading.  The US Federal Government has taken so many initiatives to blacken the reputations of anyone who disagrees with the current Administration that the DHS and FBI and DOJ and NSA appear to be determined to use this same device.  In order to blackball the enemy all that is necessary is that their conduct be labelled that of a terrorist.

Conclusion:

Imagine what it would be like to be sitting in your living room in Pakistan, wondering when a drone missile might be fired in your direction.  Why?  Because a friend of the family was labelled a terrorist.  And the intelligence stated that he’d be sitting in your living room on such and such a day.

The War on Terror was proclaimed during the Bush Administration to terrorize both friend and foe alike.  American citizens are now no safer than supposed terrorists in Pakistan and Yemen, Afghanistan or Somalia.  If the President has identified them as an enemy non-combatant who pose a potential terrorist threat, they can now be targeted here at home and abroad.  The Christopher Dorner saga, incidentally, presents a cautionary tale of how was one such unfortunate person was pursued until death without the right of due process.  Had a drone been necessary, they would have resorted to it in order to carry out that extra-judicial killing.

The CIA drone assassination program was conceived as the ultimate state-sponsored terror regime.  Because nobody is safe — ANYWHERE — from these terrifying missile attacks.  If the government can get away with their use, especially without being exposed, they will.  As long as they believe they possess ample justification, they will always err on the side of utilizing them in the name of national security or anti-terrorism.

The proliferation of non-military drones throughout the skies of the USA is just another step in this direction.  When so many types of drones are appearing above our heads, who is to say whether one has or doesn’t have the capability to fire whatever on the people below.  Plausible deniability is all that the Feds need to hang their hat on.

Lastly, those who administer this murderous policy showed no sign of conscience in the implementation of this illicit drone program in the past.  Therefore, extra-judicial drone assassinations must be terminated … for good.  The world will be a much better place without them.
