Psychiatrist Colin Ross Provides Credible Evidence for the Existence of Satanic Ritual Abuse

Dr. Colin Ross is a psychiatrist specializing in posttraumatic stress and trauma related disorders, particularly dissociative identity disorder (formerly called multiple personality disorder). In his 1995 book, ‘Satanic Ritual Abuse: Principles of Treatment’, Ross took the unusual position that not only is satanic ritual abuse (SRA) real, but that he has also successfully treated victims of SRA.

SRA is a controversial topic that reached the height of contention during the 80’s and 90’s in what many consider to be a moral panic. Monarch mind control, as commonly referenced on VC, can be seen as an extension of the SRA panic. Much of the evidence for SRA and Monarch mind control, though compelling, is circumstantial and difficult to definitively prove or disprove. Ross’ testimony is different in that it is provided by a person whose professional work is actually pertinent to SRA. What’s even more interesting is how closely Ross’ conclusions match modern ideas of Monarch mind control, despite being formed nearly 20 years ago.

Credentials of Dr. Colin Ross

Ross is a psychiatrist of Canadian origin born on July 14, 1950. He has earned international acclaim as a clinician, researcher, author and lecturer in the field of posttraumatic stress and trauma related disorders. He has authored over 140 professional papers and 23 books. At the time of the publishing of Satanic Ritual Abuse: Principles of Treatment, Ross was director of the Dissociative Disorders Unit at Charter Behavioral Health System of Dallas and associate clinical professor of psychiatry at Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. During that time, Ross claims to have directly treated, provided supervision on, or provided group therapy to roughly 300 alleged victims of SRA. In the process, Ross claims to have identified unifying characteristics of SRA survivors, along with developing an effective treatment plan for survivors.

Characteristics of SRA Victims

Dissociative identity disorder (DID), formerly called multiple personality disorder, is seen in all SRA victims, though not all people with DID are SRA victims. For those that are not familiar, DID is a psychological disorder where one’s personality splits into multiple distinct personalities (called alters) as a way of coping with traumatic stress. Allegedly trauma can be introduced to a victim in a systematic fashion to create alters which cause the victim to carry out actions against their will, and oftentimes knowledge, to create a mind controlled slave. Note that Ross makes no mention of SRA victims being used as slaves in this manner.

Ross only estimates, but he believes that roughly ten percent of alleged SRA victims are actually victims of SRA. The rest he believes are either delusional, lying, or more commonly, simply mistaken about what SRA actually is. What Ross uses to identify genuine victims are commonly shared characteristics (listed below) which are too specific to be coincidental.

-A preoccupation with Satanic holidays, including February 2 (Satanic Revels), February 25 (St Walpurgis Day), Easter, April 30 (Walpurgisnacht), June 21 (summer solstice), August 1 (Lammas Day), September 7 (Marriage of the Beast of Satan) and December 21 (winter solstice). During these days victims become anxious. December 21 is particularly stressful as victims of abuse in deviant secret societies and New Age Cults also display anxiety in addition to SRA victims. This anxiety includes agitation, acting-out, insomnia and self-mutilation in the form of cutting.

-Victims come programmed with specific dates to commit suicide, oftentimes at the age of 33. They may speak of this date many months in advance.

-Self mutilation in the form of carved Satanic symbols. Some of these symbols are commonly regarded as Satanic and are not necessarily indicative of SRA, such as pentagrams, Seal of Solomon, inverted crosses and words such as ‘hell,’ ‘die,’ and ‘Satan.’ Others are non-stereotypical Satanic symbols carved in a consistent and precise manner. They may be placed on specific body parts of no obvious significance and can involve sets of straight lines, oftentimes in sets of threes and sixes, or geometrical shapes and other designs.

-Victims’ drawings are filled with Satanic imagery. Many of the symbols carved into the skin are also present in drawings. In addition, there are drawings of hooded figures sexually abusing little girls and babies being sacrificed with ceremonial daggers. Red and black are featured prominently. Copious amounts of blood are present. There are snakes, spiders, children in cages, altars, daggers, goblets and skulls. Candles are present individually and in groups of sixes. Circles, triangles, wavy lines and lightning bolts appear in groups of six, seven, nine or thirteen. Disembodied eyes resembling the Masonic All-Seeing Eye are common.

I found the following quote from Ross (page 115) to be interesting, “…It would be interesting to do a study in which extreme skeptics about Satanism, highly hypnotizable college students, and non-ritual MPD patients never exposed to ritual cases were asked to produce a series of drawings typical of a survivor of a Satanic cult. The subjects could then be assigned to group categories by art therapists, based on examination of the drawings, and both a statistical and a narrative account of the study published. I predict that it would be difficult to fake convincingly a Satanic ritual abuse drawing.”

-Accounts of multigenerational orthodox Satanic cult activity largely conforms to public stereotypes of Satanism. Ceremonies and rituals involving the following are described: intercourse on altars; chanting; wearing of robes; use of black, white and red candles; ceremonial cutting with daggers; ritual murder with cannibalism of the heart and other organs; pentagrams; collection of blood, urine and semen in goblets for drinking; elaborate preparation of the victim before rituals; and murder of the victims at the point of orgasm. A high priest dressed in distinctive garb is in charge of the ceremony.

-Many victims relate to the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz.

Treatment of SRA Victims

Ross believes that multiple personalities arise in SRA victims as a result of double binds created during periods of intense stress. This is much more likely to occur in children than adults. A double bind is an emotionally distressing situation in which a victim is presented with two conflicting realities in which the acceptance of one negates the other. A classic example would include a little girl being molested by her father on a regular basis. On one hand, her father is clearly harming her and not looking out for her best interests. But on the other hand, she is still a child and must depend on her father for safety, security and emotional support. Accepting that her father was harming her would conflict with the idea that he is in charge of protecting her. The solution would be to create two personalities: one to resent the father and one to adore the father. The resentful daughter personality may take over while being molested while the adoring daughter would be present at all other times. Note that this is a simplified example of an alter created due to a double bind. Double binds can become quite complicated and intertwined with one another.

Ross does not believe that there is such a thing as a ‘core’ personality; rather all of the personalities acting in conjunction with one another represent the victim’s personality. Attempts to exorcise the ‘demonic’ or ‘Satanic’ alters are actually counterproductive as it encourages dissociation between the alters. The only way to truly cure DID is to get the victim to come to terms with the double binds that are causing the dissociation in the first place.

Ross’ treatment for DID includes a strict regimen with well-defined rules. Patients are held accountable for their actions, regardless of which alter carried out the actions. Not only does this help maintain order in the hospital, but it also discourages dissociation into different personalities. Oftentimes there is a malevolent ‘Satanic’ alter present in the victim which almost always turns out to be a scared child. The Satanic alter, though seemingly evil, carries out actions that are actually beneficial to the other personalities. Convincing the Satanic alter that it is not evil, but in fact brave in many instances for looking out for the other alters, is a key part of treatment. It generally takes three weeks to cure the DID portion of SRA, provided proper treatment is provided for the victim (unfortunately SRA victims rarely get proper treatment). Post treatment is almost always necessary even after DID is cured in order to help the victim cope with the amount of stress they have endured.

In Conclusion

Ross’ testimony is just a small part of the SRA/Monarch Mind Control controversy. The important point to take from this article is that a psychiatrist of fairly high repute has come forward and acknowledged that SRA does in fact exist. Through him many victims have also come forward to confirm its existence.

One important thing to take away from Ross’ research is that SRA victims have some ability to look out for their own best interests, albeit in a very haphazard fashion. Assuming that many celebrities are in fact under Monarch mind control, as is commonly expressed on VC, it would seem plausible that they have some ability to speak out against their treatment (Roseanne Barr being just one of many examples). Monarch mind control may not be as foolproof as it initially seems.

Like him or not, Ross was willing to speak out against a social evil when it was very unpopular to do so. One must consider just how radical his views were at the time. In the early 90’s the psychiatric community was almost in total denial that incestuous abuse even existed (as mentioned by Ross), let alone some kind of conspiracy of the organized practice of SRA. I’m sure his reputation suffered to a certain extent by acknowledging the existence of SRA. Through his actions he has set an example for how one must confront SRA and deviant cults in general.
