Ian Gordon on Dow 1000 / Gold $4000; Alex Merk on Markets; Daniel McAdams Geopolitical Update; Chris Rossini on Money and the Fed
TND Podcast Spotlight: Jay Taylor’s Turning Hard Times Into Good Times |
Ian Gordon, Alex Merk, Daniel McAdams and Chris Rossini return as guests on this week’s radio program.
As the equity markets look to be topping and gold bottoming, Ian Gordon returned to give us an update on his views that we are on the verge of a deflationary implosion that will make the 1930s look like child’s play. But it may be the best of times for those who own gold and gold shares because if Gordon is right, as the Dow plunges toward his target of 1000, Ian thinks gold will rise to $4,000/oz. If that sounds crazy, don’t dismiss it because Gordon has been spot on with his major forecasts ever since your editor met up with him in the late 1990s.
We also talk with Axel Merk, President and CIO of Merk Investments, to find out what is unique about the Merk Gold Trust (OUNZ). Axel also gives his informed analysis on the debt and currency markets.
During the second hour of the show, Chris Rossini returned to continue his discussion on “Set Money Free, What Every American Needs to Know About the Federal Reserve.” Daniel McAdams of the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity also came back to give us the latest truth about the Ukraine and other geopolitical hot spots.

Ian Gordon is a globally renowned economic forecaster and author of “The Long Wave Analyst” newsletter. A student of economic and investment history, Ian’s unique analysis of the cycle has garnered great praise from many notable sources including some exceptionally well-known investment managers. Ian is a consultant to many mining companies and has assisted many junior mining firms in raising capital over the past number of years. Ian was perhaps the first investment professional anywhere to recognize that the markets were about to give birth to a new secular gold bull market when he started writing his Long Wave Analyst newsletter in the late 1990s. He was also one of the first financial professionals to begin aggressively raising capital at the very start of this secular bull market in gold.
Chris Rossini is a libertarian columnist who writes for Economic Policy Journal EconomicPolicyJournal.com, The Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity RonPaul.Institute.org, and The Lions of LibertyLionsOfLiberty.com. Rossini’s columns are also regularly featured on the most read libertaria webiste in the world: LewRockwell.com. Chris recently wrote the book “Set Money Free, What Every American Needs to Kow about the Federal Reserve.” You can follow Chris on Twitter @chrisrossini.
Axel Merk is the President and CIO of Merk Investments, manager of the Merk Funds, which he founded in Switzerland (1994) by pooling the investments he had been managing for his friends starting in college. He then relocated the firm to California in 2001 as a SEC registered investment advisory.
Merk is an expert on macro trends as well as an innovator in gold and currency investing. He is a sought-after speaker, contributor and author (his book, Sustainable Wealth, describes how the greater economic universe works, how it might affect and how to manage your finances to seek financial stability). Axel Merk holds a B.A. in Economics (magna cum laude) and a M.Sc. in Computer Science from Brown University.
Merk’s insight and expertise have allowed him to predict major economic developments (he identified the credit bubble and moved his clients out of real estate and the faltering U.S. dollar, into hard currencies and gold ahead of the equity and credit market collapse of last decade).
Daniel McAdams is Executive Director of the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity. He served as foreign affairs advisor to US Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) from 2001 until Dr. Paul’s retirement at the end of 2012. In the 1990s he worked as a journalist based in Budapest, Hungary, including as editorial page editor of the Budapest Sun. He also served as special rapporteur for the British Helsinki Human Rights Group while based in Europe, monitoring human rights and elections on the ground in various contentious states, including Albania during the 1996-1998 civil unrest, Montenegro, Georgia, Armenia, Belarus, Croatia, and Slovakia. He was a Phillips Foundation Journalism Fellow (1998-2000) and an American Swiss Foundation “Young Leader” (2006).
