Actually, the Lakota ‘White Buffalo Prophecy’ was originally a prophecy that stated ‘one day, a white buffalo will be born to the tribes, that will signify a restart, a coming together of the land and people again’. They do not say it will be peaceful, only that peace will come. It also says a lot, that every time a white buffalo calf is born, seems someone has to go and immediately kill him for no set reason.
Rumor has it (though only the Lakota elders know the down-low on this) that the prophecy is a parable, and that the ‘white buffalo’ to come is not an actual bison, but a man who will bring them back to the natural laws, one with nature. That he will bring a new word (book, law, etc.) with him that will set things right once again, and eliminate the evil (aka wash-it-away).
I’m pretty confident that this idea is a failed pipe-dream, and it won’t happen. Let’s just say, ‘I have inside knowledge that it’s a total bust’. Still, there are a lot of false prophets out there claiming to be the actual fulfillment of this prophecy, and claim to be at work on it even now.
I say, Lakota (and all other first nations), you had your chance – and you should have stopped the white devil invaders before they took it all from you, stop acting like a Christian and holding out hope for supernatural powers to give you back what you abandoned long ago. You don’t get it back, you had one chance, and you failed. Your time has passed, forever – and your white man casinos are a testament to this.
