$10M Lawsuit Filed Against LA Sheriff's Dept Over Killing Of 23 Year Old Man (Picture)
A $10 million lawsuit filed by the family of Carlos Oliva claims that the deputy who fatally shot the 23 year old last year did so without proper cause. The deputy has been involved in seven shootings during his time with the department. Ted Chen reports from downtown LA for the NBC4 News at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014.
The family of a 23-year-old man who was shot and killed by a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy last year will be filing a $10 million lawsuit against the department.
Carlos Oliva, of City Terrace, was shot in the back by Deputy Anthony Forlano on Sept. 10, 2013. His family said he was unarmed and riding a skateboard in East LA at the time, but LASD reported that Oliva pointed a gun at deputies.
