Inc. Magazine names seven gun-related companies in top 5,000 list
Seven companies that sell guns or gun related products made it onto Inc. Magazine’s 2014 list of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies, which are ranked by size, growth, sector and annual revenue.
7. H&H Shooting Sports Complex
Listed as number 3,424, the H&H Shooting Sports Complex is competitive shooting range and retail facility. It’s equipped with 61 shooting lanes for Olympic air rifle, pistol and other guns, and also has a full-service restaurant and store.
In three years H&H has grown by 97 percent, adding 44 jobs and nearly doubling its revenue from $12.8 million in 2010 to $25.2 million in 2013.
Founded in 1981, the Oklahoma City company has made Inc’s annual list every year since 2007.
6. LaserMax
LaserMax, which coming in at 1,964, produces lasers designed to attach to a variety of firearms. Compared to its competitors’ prices in the civilian market, its novelty products lack quick performance features like instant-grip activation, but customers forgive LaserMax as its products tend to cost about a hundred bucks less.
In three years LaserMax has grown by 207 percent, adding 23 jobs in that timeframe. It more than tripled its revenue with $5.3 million in 2010 to $16.2 million in 2013.
Founded in 1989, the Rochester, New York company currently employs 63 people and made Inc’s list once before in 1995.
5. Ammo Brothers
Inc. lists Ammo Brothers, a retailer that sells guns, ammo and provides gunsmithing services from two locations in California, as 1,809.
In a three-year-span, Ammo Brothers grew by 228 percent, doubling it’s employees to 60 and more than tripling its annual revenue from $6 million in 2010 to $19.7 million in 2013.
Founded in 2003, the Ontario, California company also made the list in 2012 and 2013.
4. Daniel Defense
Well on its way to becoming an iconic in the gun world, Daniel Defense comes in at 1,658. The company manufactures AR-pattern rifles and accessories for civilian, military, law enforcement and hunting.
In three years Daniel Defense has grown by 255 percent. Since 2010 it has almost quadrupled its revenue, earning $15.7 million to $55.7 million in 2013. It has also added 147 jobs in that timeframe as well.
Founded in 2002, the Black Creek, Georgia, company has made the annual list in 2012 and 2013.
3. Delta Defense
Delta Defense, or better known as the publishing company of the U.S. Concealed Carry Association’s magazines, made 1,158 on the list.
Since 2010 the company grew by 378 percent and generated almost five times more revenue, from $3.4 million in 2010 to $16.4 million in 2013. Also, the media company added 38 more jobs in that time span as well.
Founded in 2003, the West Bend, Wisconsin, company has made the list since 2012.
2. Body Armor Outlet
Coming in at 738, the Body Armor Outlet caters to government agencies by selling military and police products. According to Inc., Body Armor Outlet grew rapidly through its vest buyback program since it allowed it to outfit entire law enforcement departments with equipment at discounted prices.
From 2010 to 2013, Body Armor Outlet grew 620 percent, turning hundreds of thousands into millions — growing from $334,925 to $2.4 million — and has added an estimated three jobs a year.
The Salem, New Hampshire, company was founded in 2007.
1. SilencerCo
Last, but not least, is SilencerCo coming in at 604. The company designs, develops and manufactures firearm suppressors — most recently a commercially available shotgun suppressor.
From 2010 to 2013, the company grew rapidly — an estimated 788 percent — and earned nine times more revenue, from $1.2 in 2010 to $10.8 in 2013.
Founded in 2008, the West Valley City, Utah, company currently employs 75 workers. In addition to making Inc’s list for a second year in a row, it’s also listed as the 17 top Utah company and 10 in the Salt Lake City metro area.
