People en Español Names James Rodriguez the “Sexiest Man” of 2014
Colombian soccer star James Rodriguez has been named the “sexiest man” of 2014 by People en Español and appears on the cover of the latest issue of that monthly magazine.
The publication, which shows Rodriguez wearing a blue shirt, interviewed the soccer star’s wife, Daniela Ospina, who said the Colombian is “a very attractive man. But what I most like is the way he is, his personality. It’s what I really love.”
Born in the Colombian city of Cucuta 23 years ago, the attacking midfielder became one of the outstanding figures of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, winning the golden shoe as the tournament’s top goal scorer.
His powerful performance in the international tourney led to Real Madrid acquiring him from French-league club AS Monaco this summer and signing him for six seasons.
“He’s still the same. What really characterizes him is his humility,” the player’s mother, Maria del Pilar Rubio, said in a statement to the magazine, adding that Rodriguez “hasn’t let himself be impressed” by those contracts worth millions.
Rodriguez suited up for Colombia in a friendly match against Brazil Friday night at Sun Life Stadium in Miami.
Brazil, which defeated Colombia in the World Cup quarterfinals, also came out on top in the friendly by a score of 1-0.
