UFOs, the Bible and the Corales Nightmare

Since 1947, the mass media and people in general, have been calling unidentified flying objects either flying saucers or UFOs. In biblical times they called them thick clouds or pillars of cloud by day and pillars of fire by night. We know that no one takes the term ‘flying saucer’ literally since it is understood that the term refers to some kind of unknown machine.

However, we seem to fail to realize that the same was true in ancient times.

Clearly, the Israelites did not think they were looking at natural clouds as they wandered through the desert, their terms were also metaphors. The problem they had was their lack of any experience with any type of machinery, let alone flying vehicles. There were only two natural objects up in the sky, birds and cloud, so they chose the latter.   

How would a natural cloud guide them through the Sinai desert wasteland and turn into a pillar of fire at night? Only an intelligently piloted vehicle could do that. In modern times tens of thousands of reports, many by military personnel including pilots, have described UFOs as being metallic, silvery discs that often hover soundlessly. 

We read in Exodus that Jehovah flies in a swift cloud and then hovers near the tent waiting for Moses to come out. Indeed the bible tells us that the Lord talked with Moses face-to-face as his craft was hovering near the tent. Additionally, when Ezekiel describes the ‘lord’ he says the following:  “on the likeness of the throne was a likeness with the appearance of a man high above it. “ (EZ.1:27)

Clearly, these two Old Testament prophets were not describing the invisible Creator of the Universe; they were describing a being from an advanced civilization piloting a craft that was absolutely incomprehensible to them. 

Read Ezekiel and then read the modern day Travis Walton account or watch the film ‘Fire in the Sky’, which documented the event. Both were hit by a beam of energy that lifted them off the ground and teleported them inside the ship.

When Moses climbs back down from his encounter with the lord on Mt. Sinai, we are told his face was bright red; so inflamed that the people requested that he cover it with a veil.  Many victims of close UFO encounters have been taken to the hospital with radiation burns.

The UFO phenomenon is not new it goes back into remote antiquity. It surely is time now to pull back the veil and acknowledge this continuity, so that we can make sense out of the modern UFO phenomenon.

The irony is that we seem as puzzled and mystified by it now as our ancestors were thousands of years ago.  But we do not have the luxury of being either technologically innocent or naïve at this late date in history. 

In modern times, governments have actively suppressed the truth about the existence of UFOs.  However, in recent years many have decided to publicly disclose their official UFO case files. But that list does not include the United States.  As a result a citizens group, The Disclosure Project, headed by Dr. Steven Greer, has pressed the American government to fully disclose its secret UFO files for the past 20 years.

 This author has one very serious problem with Greer’s view of the UFO phenomenon and its alleged alien occupants. He has repeatedly stated his belief that the aliens are entirely friendly and harmless, posing no threat to us. That is a patently false statement that reveals a disturbing lack of real knowledge about the UFO field in both ancient and modern times.

The author of this article is not implying that there is a hostile, alien agenda.

That does not appear to be the case. However, we have plenty of evidence that UFOs and their occupants have done some inadvertent harm to humans and they do pose a threat. First, as noted above there are cases where people have suffered radiation burns, however, beyond that dizziness, black outs, lost time, psychological disorientation, to name a few side-effects.

But the greater danger has been pointed out by physicist Stephen Hawking who observed that more technically advanced civilizations tend to destroy more primitive ones. Our own history documents that principle, as western civilization wiped out cultures of Africa, Asia and the Americas often inadvertently just through contact.

We have to take this prospect very seriously and those who yearn for alien contact had better think it through soberly. It was one thing when our remote primitive and technologically, ignorant ancestors had contact. However, now that we are an industrialized, high tech, global civilization it would be quite a different situation.

In truth, we have already had contact and been shown that an advanced technology is in our skies in no uncertain terms. The first such incident occurred in 1942 and is referred to as ‘The Battle over Los Angeles’, which is a misnomer. In fact there was no battle because the UFO that hovered in the skies over the city never returned fire.

However, the 57th Army Artillery battery shelled the object with repeated rounds with no effect whatsoever. Tens of thousands of people were witness to this event including policemen, firemen, journalists, and military personnel. There is absolutely no doubt that it occurred. 

The spent shells littered the areas beaches and the event was emblazoned across the headlines of the LA Times the following morning: ‘Searchlights and Guns Comb Sky’

The majority of people do not know about this case or the equally well-documented and compelling ‘Buzz over Washington, DC ‘case, which occurred in 1952.

At 11:40 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 1952, Edward Nugent, an air-traffic controller at Washington National Airport, spotted seven objects on his radar scope. He quickly calculated that the objects were located 15 miles (24 km) south-southwest of the city; no known aircraft were in the area and the objects were not following any established flight paths.

These were major cases — more so than any that have followed since — but the former was never fully investigated because it occurred during wartime. The latter was quickly explained away by the military but their explanation was simply an extension of the Roswell cover-up.

Those that buy the official party line which claims there is nothing to the UFO phenomenon usually are not even aware of the highest profile, extremely credible cases. Yet they will parrot the official cover story as if they had done their homework and are in full command of the facts.

From this point on we are going to examine a very strange, unique case that occurred in Brazil n 1977. What the author felt compelled to include the foregoing will hopefully become clear as the almost unbelievable case unfolds.

The mainstream media in America had already signed on to the US governments debunking memo mentality decades earlier. This surely is one reason why this highly explosive, irrefutable and dramatic series of events was not covered by the American press. Any similar story that involved an entire town and region of a country would have been covered. 

The Corales Nightmare

The nightmare began in August of 1977, in the small Brazilian island of Colares situated at the mouth of the Amazon River.  Some of the town’s residents noticed strange lights moving across the sky.  It was a small town of about 2,000 inhabitants most of whom were either involved in agriculture or fishing.

It began one night but did not end that same evening.

The residents soon began reporting that UFOs of various sizes and shapes, which they had not witnessed before, were appearing in the skies every day. The mysterious objects approached from the north.  They were also seen emerging from the ocean. 

The early wave of sightings was unnerving enough, but they were only a foreshadowing of the truly horrific things that were to quickly follow.

As the episode progressed and also started taking place in other nearby towns and villages, some people began telling of being struck by beams of light that emanated from the unknown objects. These light beams produced burns, paralysis, chills, dizziness, tremors,numbness and severe headaches.  Some of the victims reported having fainted. They added that when they woke up they felt unusually fatigued.

Others reported that the beams of light seemed to suck blood out of them. They also noted that when the light hit them they were instantly immobilized. This may sound like a Hollywood script but these events actually happened much to the horror of the local people.

As these events continued to go on, the people’s curiosity and nervousness turned to outright fear and even hysteria. This is not too surprising as the UFOs claimed more victims who told their stories and also visited the local hospital to get treated.  We can imagine the tension mounting as more and more of the townspeople became involved.

Dr Wellaide Ceim Carvalho examined some 40 victims. She noted that many suffered burns and severe psychological distress.  Some of her patients had symptoms ranging from partial to total paralysis, loss of speech, hot flashes andnumbness; several also exhibited tiny holes and weird scars where the strange rays had hit their bodies.

At first she was skeptical of the incredible accounts her patents related as to how they were injured. But she had no medical explanation for the symptoms being presented to her by so many of the townspeople. Fearing ridicule she simply kept her mouth shut until she found herself standing in a beam of light one evening.

There is nothing like a close encounter to change a skeptic into a true believer. The doctor was not injured but was forced to admit the fantastic nightmare was all too real.

Using the term nightmare at the onset of this description of the Corales flap was no exaggeration. Dr. Carvalho reported that two of her patients died. As the UFO wave kept hammering the town, people became completely terrorized. They did not know exactly who or what was attacking them. 

As a result, it was not long before the fishermen stayed home; the farmers also stopped attending to their fields. Food and water soon became scarce.

 When the women and children went outside they did so in large groups of 50 to 60, a safety in numbers precaution. At 6 O’clock they retired to bed to sleep for the night. The men stayed awake to stand guard. They lit bonfires and banged on pots and pans, sometimes shooting rifle shots into the air, anything to keep the intruders at bay.

The situation continued to worsen. Finally, the Regional Air Command of the Brazilian Air was dispatched to the area. In the beginning of September, a team of officers, engineers and scientists arrived on Colares Island. 

The men setup camp, then mounted telescopes and cameras on nearby beaches. By this time total panic gripped the island. The military team tried to calm the people down, but they no success at first.
 

During their on-site investigations, the Air Force shot live footage of the UFOs; they also captured hundreds of images of disks flying across the basin of Marajó. Over time they managed to help the locals by providing psychological assistance, which helped eliminate the panic that seized the entire region.

In spite of what the US government and mass media claim about UFO’s, these and the aforementioned major cases happened. Fortunately, the Corales nightmare is the exception to the rule. There is no other case in Ufology quite like it. Though there are isolated incidents when people were injured

However even if the alien agenda is benign for the most part their technology inadvertently poses a danger for those that come into close contact.
