162 Veterans Send Letter To National Guard In Ferguson, Telling Them To Stand Down

162 active duty military and veterans have sent an open letter to Missouri National Guard members asking them to stand down. At the time of this writing there were 162 signatures on the letter but names may still be added.
The tone of the letter is very clearly in favor of Michael Brown. However, whether or not the Grand Jury made the right decision in choosing not to indict, the letter does bring about other critical issues which America needs to discuss. For instance, the letter offers an analysis of the Ferguson police state that is difficult to argue whether one feels that Darren Wilson should have been charged or not:
Countless constitutional and human rights violations by these police have been documented over the course of the Ferguson protests; from attacking and threatening journalists, to using tear gas against peaceful protesters, including children.
Below is the full text of the open letter that has currently been signed by 162 active and former military. Though the words may be somewhat misguided, depending of course on your interpretation of the evidence in the Michael Brown case, it is nice to see our active military and veterans attempting to stand with the peopleinstead of Big Brother.
To our brothers and sisters in the Missouri National Guard:
We are writing to you as active-duty U.S. service members and veterans, most of us having served in the Iraq war.
You have a choice you can make right now.
The whole world is watching the Ferguson police with disgust. They killed an unarmed, college-bound Black youth in broad daylight, and subsequently responded to peaceful, constitutionally-protected protests with extreme violence and repression.
