Following the murder of two New York City police officers, a number of conservatives are pointing out the fact that the tone of protests – and their leaders – over the past several months have set the stage for the targeting of authority figures. As Western Journalism reported, outspoken critics including actor James Woods, business mogul Donald Trump, and former NYPD commissioner Bernard Kerik have lambasted the actions of Al Sharpton and others in fanning the flames of racial discord since the police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo.
Fox News host and author Greg Gutfeld weighed in on the developments, as did many others, via Twitter this weekend.
Though he acknowledged that there is “absolutely no connection” between demonstrators who called for the murder of police and the subsequent deaths of officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu, Gutfeld pointed out that there is no corresponding protest after the latest tragedy.
He also referenced the fact that, in the wake of grand jury decisions regarding the officers responsible for shooting Brown and restraining Eric Garner prior to his fatal heart attack, certain prominent universities allowed students to delay their exams.
