No More Dead Cops! The Work Slow-Down Continues. Peace in the City Can Only Begin When de Blasio is Gone from City Hall.

As a former member of the NYPD, I stood on the frontline of the Harlem and Columbia riots, worked the Eastside of Manhattan back in ‘72 on the night Officers Foster and Laurie were assassinated – just for being Cops – and patrolled the mean streets of the South Bronx when it was ‘officially burning’.
Back then we worked during a time of great hostility and danger to Police Officers, but we came to work and did our job each day knowing that our politicians, mayors and bosses had our backs. And so today, with an insight that few can draw from, I watched the reports of these ‘coordinated uprisings’ coming out of Ferguson, Missouri, and Staten Island, New York, with the experienced eye of a law enforcement insider.
But, it is not necessary for you to have been a Cop to have a good understanding of what ‘Is-Really-Going-On’ with these knowledge-sharing articles here at CFP (See related); such as the recent one that gave explicit details of how these protests were in no way grassroots oriented. In fact they were agitated by the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA, (revcom.us)
In New York, Mayor de Blasio and Police Commissioner Bratton where quoted as saying that the Police Officers were being ‘disrespectful’ to their fallen brothers when they turned their backs on the mayor as he eulogized Officers Ramos and Liu, the most recent members of the NYPD to be assassinated – for just being Cops. When ironically there were over 30,000 Police Officers, who came from all over the country to attend each of their funerals specifically ‘out of professional respect’ for their fellow Police Officers; each one saying the same silent prayer, “There, but for the Grace of God, goes me.” And, anyone with knowledge of de Blasio’s leftist background and ideology will agree that as Aldous Huxley once said, “Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.” We can no longer ignore the fact that disrespect for Cops is one of the main ingredients in Mayor Bill de Blasio’s DNA.
Last week, as a work-slow-down continued and politically-charged meetings were held with the mayor, police commissioner and the police unions, I agreed with PBA President Pat Lynch that Mayor de Blasio should, at a minimum, begin the healing process between himself and the now battered members of the NYPD, with a sincere apology; firstly, to the Police Officers in New York City, and then to every cop who ever wore the uniform – Nationwide.

I’m also a former cop- and I have never before, in my entire life, seen a police department, as a whole, acting like a bunch of petulant children- to hell with the Mayor, who cares what he says or thinks. has he cut their budget? has he decimated the ranks with mass layoffs?. Has he said anything that wasn’t true from his experience?..
Grow up, do your job and act like adults… or go and work for the school system, where they are experienced in dealing with children and their tantrums.
The Police don’t work for the Mayor, and they don’t work for each other.. they work for the Citizens, the very same citizens they’re strangling on the streets, the same they’re shooting down in a hail of hundreds of bullets, the same they’re pepper spraying and roughing up when they protest… These cops have lost their way more than any other department I’ve ever seen, with the sole exception maybe being Ferguson, MO
Again, grow up, stop acting like the world owes you something and act like a professional….. or YOU be gone-
Well said.
i would bet the cops hated you, not as much as they hate mundanes (props to Wm Norman Grigg), but you are lucky to have left without a bullet in your back. thank you wrenn for having been there for the right reason
I agree with everything Wrenn said. Also you must show respect towards others if you want them show you respect. It seems to me the only people that get respect from you guys is your “brothers in arms”, stop separating yourselves from the rest of humanity.
Since when did “protect and serve” turn into “harass and kill”? All of you cops brought this on yourself. You can push and push and push people til they are backed into a corner, and then what happens? They come out fighting.
If you cops can’t behave yourselves in public and towards the public maybe you need to find another career.
