Magnum Research runs wild with Desert Eagle Cheetah
With a 6-inch barrel, the Desert Eagle measures in at 10.75 inches, a slide width of 1.25 inches, height 6.25 inches and weight with an empty magazine at 4 pounds, 5.8 ounces.
Gaudy, tacky, flamboyant. People say a lot of things about the Desert Eagle and staying true to the garishness, Magnum Research introduced a new iteration of the iconic pistol in Cheetah print.
All jokes aside, the Desert Eagle is a show stopper. Impractical in most senses, but people love it for the sheer excitement of firing one of the most powerful commercially available pistols in the world.
Available in .50 AE and .44 Magnum, the Desert Eagle is a gas-operated, semi-automatic pistol, and comes with either a 6- or 10-inch barrel.
In the past, Magnum Research has garnered criticism for its quality control, but since Kahr Arms took over in 2010, quality has improved, putting it in line with Kahr’s reputable construction.
“The introduction of the Cheetah print was something our dealers thought would appeal to collectors and also those people who just want a more wild finish on their DE,” says Frank Harris, the company’s vice president of sales of marketing, in a press release.
The new Cheetah finish on the Desert Eagle .50 AE and .44 Mag, utilizes a water transfer method. It has been extensively tested for durability and has proven to be very tough — even cleaning solvents and acetone will not soften or damage the finish, the company says.
