Massive Fire Rips Through NY Warehouse Destroying 4 Million Boxes Of City Records (Video)

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

(N.Morgan) A massive fire started around 6:30 AM on Saturday at the Williamsburg warehouse near the East River in Brooklyn New York.

Firefighters fought the blaze for over 8 hours in the effort of putting out the flames.

4 million boxes of government records were destroyed, including records for the city’s public hospitals, New York State courts and the Administration for Children’s Services.

Singed records could be seen blowing in the wind and were turning up blocks away.

A Health and Hospitals Corporation spokesman said the warehouse stored only older medical records.

“As an early adopter of electronic medical records systems, HHC keeps duplicates of vital patient records in electronic form and we do not anticipate this will affect our operations,” spokesman Ian Michaels said in a statement.

Smoke-eaters were pouring water on the fire both from tower ladders and FDNY boats. Heavy winds and temperatures rising only into the 20s were making the job more difficult, officials said.

There were no reported injuries.

The nearby Star Energy oil refinery was evacuated as a precaution, sources said.

A very “convenient” fire. Wonder what they were hiding. Another convenient fire was, Google 1916 Ireland war of independence Custom House burning, where all records went up in flames. Conveniently all keepers of civil birth death and marriage records had been told to send all their books into the custom house for centralisation of records, 6 months before the blaze, therefore the only records left were the church ones belonging to, da-daah, the local parish priests for each parish. They still to this day get to charge money to people looking up their ancestors through church records. And there were other reasons for the fire, to do with records for land ownership.
