Facebook spat ends in fatal shooting of 14-year-old girl (VIDEO)
When a group of teen girls became engulfed in an ongoing spat on Facebook, they decided to settle their differences by meeting up at a Birmingham, Alabama, park Friday night for a fight.
The pre-planned dual was supposed to be videotaped, then posted to the social media site for all to see. However, once the girls met up and started fighting, things took a dramatic turn.
Two teen boys, one believed to be the boyfriend of one of the girls, showed up at the park and opened fire on the melee. A 14-year-old girl who was involved in the fight and at least two others were struck by gunfire. The three were transported to a local hospital and the 14-year-old, later identified as Kierra’Onna “Keke” Rice, died a short time later. The two others survived.
The two boys, 17-year-old Antonio King and 19-year-old Jason Wade, are in custody and charged with murder, second-degree assault and first-degree assault.
Rice’s family apparently told her not to meet the girl at the park, but she thought it would put an end to the fighting if she showed up. Rice’s grandmother said the girl had been a victim of bullying for years because she was a “pretty girl.”
