If by “audacious” you mean a highly inventive or extremely original idea then i’d agree given Putin’s 90% popularity rating. But that’s not what you meant by strongly hinting at a coup, was it? Me-thinks you don’t know much about the catalyst for these things.

Tanks are probably connected to the 1st anniversary of Crimea ‘officially’ being absorbed into Russia on 18th March – for which there are some celebrations planned (hence the chairs etc being set up in Red Square).
